Hyfax Rail Fastener

Has anyone had a chance to actually field test any of the proposed fixes - rail caps, bigger wheels, outside the rail wheels, or others. What were your real world results?

All,
I’ve contacted a few dealerships to see if they can escalate this up to the Polaris bean counters. The hyfax ‘auto deploy’ should not be an option on new snowmobile. I’d think Polaris would want to remedy this sooner than later.

Dealership replaced the hifax that got sucked into my tunnel, as well as the hardware for both sides. When I got it back last week I pulled them both off and reprofiled the angle. The left side that was not replaced was pretty hammered at the front of the rail. Anyways, I rode about 35 miles this weekend, good conditions plenty of snow to keep things lubed and cool. The profile definitely helped, still showing some significant wear for such a small amount of usage. There is still an issue here at some level.

I also ordered the '23 rail caps, got those today. But after looking at them, I don't see what they are going to do that the reprofiled hifax's aren't already. Material seems to be pretty much the same durometer, and the grind I did last week pretty well replicates their angle and its already in the exact same position the rail cap would cover. All installing them would do is make a ledge between the rail caps and the hifax to take more wear.

Any chance you could post a picture? Still waiting on snow in my neck of the woods and would like to do something before the first ride.

'Went out to check my new '24 9R Khaos 165" after reading thru this post. Two break in rides around 25 miles each, came off on second ride somewhere.....we'll see how Polaris warranty goes on this one.
Hate to say, but Par for the course. Pictures of left side missing, and right side.

Keep us posted on what Polaris says.

I spent almost $25k for the sled, Id prefer not to have to add to that in order to ride the phucking thing.
I hear you on that. You could just re-profile the front of the hyfax and keep an eye on it. Maybe the sharp angle is getting pounded by the track windows and that's loosening the bolt? Rounding it off might not stop that, but should at least help. Judging from the pictures, that's not a long-term solution though. If a slightly bigger anti-stab wheel fixes it, hopefully Polaris will recall and get you a set. But if so, it sucks either having to watch it and worry about it until they do, or paying to fix the screw-up (even if it's only $100 or so).
