Golden conditions

Rode quartz yesterday afterall, in all honesty it was a good day of riding. Challenging and a bit risky in places due to low coverage down low, but played in a few areas of old cabin valley that were really deep. Got stuck a few times good and helped countless others get unstuck aswell. Some of the little play pockets through the trees above the old cabin were filled in really well. Moved my clickers up to 3 and was pulling about 7900 under load in the deep stuff, end of day I had 2.6 hrs run time so will leave the clutch alone until it hits this magical 6 or 7 hr mark.

The trail ride in was rough as all hell. On the way in when the body was fresh I pinned er and skipped off the tops, on the way out my body was exhausted and I was limping out a crumpled a-arm, I went up and down on every one of those f'in bumps, that sucked! Yah I nosed er into a creek left side heavy, stuck in, didn't hit ground really but close to, few guys on some orange Poo's helped me out (thanks) and I didn't notice it until later that the impact had folded my lower a-arm. Not sure what else it has injured, looks like the little wish bone attached to the sway bar is also toast, guess this is my chance to remove the sway bar and try it without. After I was out one of my saviors noticed that his rear suspension was nuked from the ride in, wouldn't do anything but sit on the bottom, full sag. Was one of probly a dozen injured sleds yesterday. I saw so many sleds getting towed out, it was crazy!

All in all I say it's ready for playing and exploring, but common sense is required. It was snowing hard like mad when we left, and most of the afternoon really, I bet today would be good again or even better!

Haha you can do that up a huge too if you can somehow cram another 12 psi into each hole.

That's my buddie's MCX Nytro.... stupid power.

ANyways..... rode Silent Pass today.

Unloading at about 27 K.. just before Whiskey Jack Road or whatever... about 3 k pass the left turn to Silver Mines.

Trail has not been groomed, yet there is enough snow on it and it's soft and smooth enough to let it buck about 50 mph the whole way.

Waterfall was a brease, nothing but traction, and due to all the rocks on it, there's basically one trail up it, and one down.

Up top was nice. Clear, about 2 feet of fresh snow recently, but still rocks between 4 inches and 2 feet from the surface:eek:

Bounced off one today, everything is fine, and managed to furn 3/4 tank.

Another week of decent snow, we'll be set.

Rode Quartz yesterday. Huuuuuuuuuuuge props to the grooming crew who got in as far as the big billboard. I can't imagine having to do that ride in the state the rest of the trail was in.

Conditions so far are pretty good; we got a few turns in on the boards, got stuck a few times, and generally had a great first day out.

Anyone know how the guy with the cut up leg is doing? Hopefully he was alright, it seemed a little tense around there but he looked ok when they were pulling him off the hill.

Are the billboards at the end of the old cabin valley, at the boundaries?

How did this guy hurt his leg?

They groomed right up to the the last bridge (about 10 minutes from the cabin). There's a big sign there showing all the area boundaries 'n whatnot.

No idea how the guy cut his leg, but the way people were running around it seemed pretty serious. Hopefully he's alright. I overheard someone talking about a chopper that came in, but that's only hearsay.

Just another reason I need to get a sat phone and a better first aid kit.

Hmm.

Quartz would be a pretty good place if you were ever to get hurt. There's tons of people always there... close to the highway and not far from town.... hope the guys alright.

On the Donald trail to Susan Lake/ Chatter creek way, we had a guy fall off the 12k bridge. It was a brand new xp, 12 miles on it plus the 80 foot fall to the river below the bridge.

Had to rip back to the truck, use on star and they sent an ambulance down the plowed trail, then sent in Golden search and rescue. Not a good scene, but now buddy has an after market hip!

Good to hear that guy wasnt hurt too bad.

On a good note, Quartz sounds like its gettin better, I'm going this weekend no doubt about it

Drove through Golden and Quartz on the weekend after picking my sled up from vernon it snow'd the night through and the day through was awsome fredh snow every were so im thinking they got it pretty good on top. Poped my head in for a sec and lots of sleds. thought about going for a ride but it was 3 and i was wearing shoes and a spring coat so that question'd got answerd pretty quick.

From Revy, you;re looking at about an hour to the parking lot... but you go across the time change you so you lose another hour right there... if we're digging that deep haha.

If there's snow and it's clear, quartz is pretty decent, but not really any better riding than what's 15 minutes away from you in Revy.

Goldenrider, I was the guy on the bllack XP that helped you tie back your front shock spring. Just so you know, yes it is all good to remove that sway bar.

Nov 23

so im a little late...but hey.

We rode Quartz on sunday as well & had a great day. Had a large group (12 sleds) & we all had a blast & everyone came out unscathed! (Thanks to treading lightly)...We all managed to avoid rocks & creek beds.
The day was gorgeous & the snow was better than i/we expected! Totally worth the drive out from Calgary for the day!! :D
