Golden conditions

Buddie's rode Quartz today... said it was a cluster f***.

Woopt trail, creeks open at the cabin, and the left valley is all creeks still.

Over all, not enough snow, and rocks pretty well everywhere.

Tav will put some pictures up tomorrow probably, you can see for yourselves.... I heard it's supposed to snow from now till Saturday sometime... Sunday doesn't look good to me:eek:

HOws the theft been in Golden lately....is it still a horror show??

Haven't heard of anything yet. Haven't heard of anything since late last season really. I'd say it was a 'rash' and not a recurring thing.

Drove Golden to Revy and back today, was shocked at how bare and dry the roads were, and how little snow there was through the pass. Quartz parking lot looked surprisingly busy. From reports above I don't know why. Few more weather systems needed.

From what I hear the Rd. to Hope is now officially closed, government enforced closure. I don't know how they plan to 'enforce' it exactly, but it's shut. Apparently the rock blocking the road is just the tip of the iceberg, so many more like it yet to come down the ministry is saying the cost to repair is not worth it, they'd rather just close it. I guess for sledding (with more snow) there is a way to drop down to the beach a few km's sooner and then get back onto the road after the closure. This is all just hear-say around town, take it for what you want.

A buddy had his super clamps and extra gas stolen out of his truck at staging for Forester down by Radium.

It must be related! I know that's not what you are implying, but come on people - super clamps sitting in the back of your truck?! You have to be a bit more vigilant than that. I'm not taking sides with the theif here, but that sounds like it could have been easily avoided.

Bummer, I'm so wanting to ride my new sled, oh well.
The waiting game starts now

Road to Hope... as in to Chatter and Susan Lake trail?!?

If that's true, that is a joke.

THE best sledding in Golden is down those roads and trails... I am actually pretty rattled about this.

Money lost to the town from sledders alone, you would think they would open it.

But....nobody said the gov't in BC was smart.

If that is the case, how will the Chatter creek outfit stay open?? Hovercraft?
Can it still be passable by sled? It must have been a huge rock,

Joel, maybe we have to do some exploring one weekend, ;)I bet there is still a way in there.

I would like to see some pics of this rock.

Chatter is looking into their options for opening the road. Government process and risk/liability is the issue. We're looking into it for Chatter.

If you like water skipping, you can easily go around the rock cut down low. We need snow for that though.

Hovercraft

HAHAHA

That's what I thought... how would that big dirty miraculous operation stay open... as a 17 year old kid... all i can do is wonder about how government can make these decisions.... Id feel a little better if Golden's mayor rode or something haha, but this will suck.

You two should DEFINATLEY check it out... sounds like it's close to the water before the bridge at 53k or whatever?

not really a municipal government issue - having them on side could help user groups argue, but really it's in the hands of the province. Unfortunately these days, when the word 'liability' is involved nothing happens quickly. I am sure this will be a long drawn out process creating lots of work for government engineers and lawyers etc.

This will make Chatter's day to day operations incredibly tough for sure, imagine the increase in operating cost to fly everything that currently goes by truck or cat?! Insane.

All that said I was hoping to get out riding tomorrow but with no significant snow fall this week and I am sure hoards of people fighting for what little snow is there, I will probly stay home and work instead.

SO it may take awhile for all this to happen then?
Meanwhile, we just have a big rock to go around?

Yes.. as far as I know, the chopper is only there for customers and their gear... everything else is catted/sledded in(excellent trail).

Hmm, Im upset because I love that place.

That's it.. someone get a petition going.
