Chute Climbing in Revy

For all those that say stay off the hills no matter what; you are right IF you have no gear or training. There are hills that you can ride when the rating is high and some I wouldn’t touch if it was rated moderate, but without training you just can’t tell. I don't know these guys; probably have met some of them at the Big Dawg. What they and others have said about the chutes is right, they can be safer but you still need to check, it sounds like they did. I hope these guys do have more than just an AST 1 or 2 course. A CAA level 1 and better yet a level 2 course is what I would hope guys doing these kinds of videos would have. I see tons of guys on the Icecap filming skiers, boarders, sledders and always wonder what kind of training and equipment they have. I hope at least 1 or 2 also have an 80 hour outdoor first aid course and satellite phone or something similar. If you are going to be a pro then have some training fit for a pro.

Maybe you need to put a line on your pics “Pro riders on closed course. Do not attempt at home”

See how easy it is to get people onto a different topic, thanks for being the first idiots to pick up on that. I will send all my posts to you rejects for editing

I AM the morning after PILL. :)

ps guys, I still say Revy is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in the winter. The pictures take me back to the best day of my life on a sled. Thanks for that day, darko! There may never be a new #1. Thanks for the Memories!

"FAB, I'm coming in!!!" lol GOT GOOSE?

i'm sure the next time these guys plan on going sledding they will confront all of you on the avy. risk weather or not its safe. yes the risk is high but not every flake of snow is going to slide off the rocks.

and if they want to go climb a chute that is their choice not yours, if your scared of the avy risk go ride in Saskatchewan.

Gonna have to drive to manitoba or something it still happens here!

hey boys watch out your back yard might slide never climb a hill mountain or valley ever again or you will have the anti avalanche nazis after you.

Lol....... Those Manitoba dugout hills are treacherous but I think they are highmakeable! Dig a pit first!!! Anti- avalanch nazis!!! lol....It's the cold war all over again thanks to snowest! Turn you beacons on guys! :beer;

Damn MPS was right, Utah is full of faries;) It seems Darkos crush on Jenna is nothing more then a front.

Appreciate what these guys can do on sleds..... Don't copy it. It's not their first day on the hill, and they are all grown up and can decide their own fate.

You see the R.I.P and terrible loss threads due to the rash of avi deaths this year, but unfortunatley, that is the result of bigger, better and increased popularity. The higher the concentration of riders with sleds that can reach these "unsafe" areas, the higher the count is going to be especially in a high risk year.

Take it as you will, but pics of these guys climbing is not an open invitation to emulate their actions..... Yes, they are in the spotlight and are influential riders, but that should not prevent them for riding the way they choose to.

Funniest part about it all, not one of the people who said that they are stupid for pulling these shutes in the current conditions once critisized themselves, or anybody else for getting behind the wheel of that great big death machine that pulls their sleds to the mountains after a hard day riding....... Correct me if I'm wrong, but, don't more people die from falling asleep behind the wheel then in avis??? Is driving not preventable?

I've been follwing this thread and have a hard time understanding where people are coming from:rolleyes: Yes, these guys are adults and can make their own decisions, we know this! I think what's wrong, is when people criticize what this group chose to do that day, like they were at the same location and chose not to touch the hill. Then in a post after the bashing, come back to ask questions about how they evaluated the situation to deem it "safe". Kind of contradicting IMO, maybe they should have asked why they thought it was safe to begin with then bash??? I find you get a lot more answers when you ask a question vs. telling someone they're "idiots" then cool off a while to then ask the questions...

I'm sure the group of riders have more experience on the hills then myself and many others, but there is always a risk when in the backcountry! No matter what precautions may have been taken before the final decision was made to attempt these climbs, there was still a risk big or small. I love the pictures and hope to see more, what i don't want to see is a post about this group having a slide and possibly a fetality! I know this is never a for sure, so I will stress over and over to practice and know how to use your survival gear, know the conditions, be prepared (have a plan), and MOSTLY know the risks (leaving loved ones behind, friends, and the future of ever riding again) BEFORE riding the way you choose! I would much rather ride in fair conditions 5 times next year vs. riding a hill that i'm uncertain about in epic conditions today!

Be SMART and ride again!
