castlegar area

yea the bomi needs a bit more snow!has any one been into marble lake or grady?

Rode into Grady a couple times so far, almost a groomed trail in there now. That's where a guy from Revy got buried around Xmas, so haven't tried the climbs there yet. Don't trust the snow yet.

Haven't heard of anyone heading into Marble yet, last time down that way, I didn't see any tracks heading down towards Erie ck. The club should be grooming the way down soon for the poker run. The alders are getting really bad, last fall they were brutal. I offered to do some brushing for the BV club, but as usual they haven't responded. That club needs to get their sh#t together. Wanted to brush last fall before it snowed, going to have to wait 'til summer now.

Pics from the weekend

Blue skies, these fields were untouched when we showed up.....still some fresh out there but we need some new stuff!!

Cold ride up, cold ride down, warm in the sun!!

Ya some dude apparently piled into one this year. I don't ride much around the mine and cabin....it's always full of hillbillys doing weird things, running into large objects, each other, etc. I like the gold creek side, as not many people make it over there and there's a big loop of open clearcuts.

Erie

A few of us made some runs up the west side of Erie Creek from the hi-way at the bridge. Broke trail up then a quick run over into Bombi back in early Jan not to bad of ride now as we did a little brush clearing on the way up the trail. On the east side of the creek been a bit of logging action road was plowed up to about 5 k went up into Grassy played around in some blocks.
Any one ever been up Erie Creek on the east side 2nd relief road and into the Craigtown area just wondering if it's worth looking into or if you can access any of the alpine in the area? Thinking of checking this out soon or may just head over into Sheep Creek Mid Feb.

Done lots of quadding up 2nd Relief/over Dominion down Huckleberry. Don't think you'll get up the old powerline trail (slide ck) on a sled. Definetly would be avalanche risk for sure. They didn't name it slide ck for nothing! :D The top of Craigtown peak (up Stewart pass) would be pretty open, lots of alpine along the ridge, but not very wide. And probably wind blown too. There's also the avy risk going up the road, it's pretty steep and open along there. There's a few open blocks on the N/W side of Stewart pass too.

I think Coxy was up Sheep ck few weeks ago, should ask him if the slide has come down just past Wulf ck, the one that always covers the creek and comes up on the road. Gotta watch where you ride at the end of Sheep too, Caribou are apparently scared of sledders.

Thanks for the heads up on those riding areas, good info. I have a place right on Erie Creek we usually head up on either side, mess around up there sure is nice to just jump on the sleds and ride right out from the front yard no parking the truck’s in the middle of nowhere coming back to a surprise.
Just getting limited to some good open ground and hill climbing areas. Maybe when the conditions are right may check that out, could be areas in there I am unaware of that are just sweet. I heard you can ride over the top and down towards the Hwy just past Yimr / Porto Rico Rd as well?
Sheep Creek I haven’t been up for over a year now, last we went up towards area called The Wall guy in our party was riding up a nice chute had a couple of great runs. Maybe Mountain Man Vince knows if it slid yet he lives up that way may run into him at the watering hole save us a trip up.
Bunch sledding buddies in the area mid Feb wouldn’t mind getting into some new ground, have to get hooked up with a pass or memberships always a good thing, seen the contact info on this form.

Hey SS, if you take Stewart pass you wind up about a 1/2 km down the highway from Porto-Rico road. At the highway take a left up a road, follow the trail through an open area, across the creek and you come out in the parking lot across from the gun range on Porto-Rico road. We do a loop on the quads in the summer, usually up Slide ck (past 2nd Relief mine), down Porto-Rico past Barret and Lost lakes, then up Stewart and down to Erie ck again. Nice run.

A buddy of mine lives just down the highway from you, he sold his sled last fall. Wished he didn't! :D

hows the turbo runnin mark?

the turbo is running great like always. lol. no i seriously love this sled and am not sure i will ever find anything better then this. little probs but with a mod you are going to have those. looking at putting a muffler on it and quiet it down a little.

Hey guys. Im heading down to Creston to visit my folks here in a couple days. Im going to bring my sled down with me, but dont know any of the areas. Anyone interested in hooking up for a ride?
