Carbed 2 stroke turbo guy's !!!

Just wondering if you have any experience with running an turbo with Lectron 44mm carbs. What im thinking of is on my 700 polaris BB running my 44mm Lectrons with a 53 series Aerocharger.

If I remember correctly Gus has said before that the lectrons leak pretty bad under boost. It's in this thread somewhere I just can't remember which page.

insane fun

It took a few years and a few thousand dallors but the old 440 turbo finally came to life. With the decompressioned head, 15 psi boost and c 20 fuel. Many testing trips down the ditch and tweeks under the hood it is complete. Not sure the actual hp number, but it is insane. From the stock 92hp to something near 200hp was more than I bargained for when actually riding it. I dont think it will make a good trail sled anymore, but to the guys with an 800 or so, beware of the little red sled. If it's not trying to spin, it is trying to stand on end. I want to thank all the people that helped in the build and to the forum members for the information.

Thanks again
Doug C

Mountain max

Wow, just finished reading this whole thread, took 4 days of my lunch & coffee breaks lol. I also bought a membership to read the whole thing. I saw that scot1 and another guy mentioned Yamaha 700 triples but no-one responded. That's what I'm building and was looking for someone else who has, so far have talked to a couple people that say it works good but need to weld the crank. I have just about all the parts I'll need except a BB turbo. I'm planning on running Mikuni power jets since I have been told the adjustable ones sometimes break, but from what I've read here they must be reliable, anyone running the Mikuni's? I'll be using a Malpassi FPR from an RX1 kit, have an airbox, BOV and single pipe with T3 flange welded on. Any info helps if anyone visits this thread anymore.
Thanks.

Same reason I bought the premium membership!

I know a couple guys still check this thread. I don't think Gus does cause he can't view the posts due to not being premium.

I would run adjustables, much easier to tune with.

Sounds like you have most of what you need, what are you doing for oiling the turbo? You'll need a fuel pump.

I know triples can work, I don't have experience with them.

Gus listed his email, I would email him. Very willing to answer questions. He also stocks many of the parts you might need. He's also experienced with triples. Don't PM him he won't check it.

Maybe some of the other guys will chime in also.

Anyone else running a capacitor instead if a battery? I am wanting to go to a larger size, But I'm wondering if there are any negatives to doing this?

Good to see people are still using this thread, I hope we can keep it going! I have a walbro electric fuel pump for my setup. It's a kit another guy built, I bought it off him, he did a few things wrong but it has most of the stuff I need and he did a nice job of what he built.

For turbo lube, I'm thinking of using the stock oil injection pump, not sure what's required with deleting oil injection on the yami triples though, I see they have oil lines going to the bottom of the case from the oil pump, I don't know if you can plug these off and just run mixed gas, or if drilling passages is required like other engines.

I'll try to get ahold of Gus too, I saw a comment earlier on the thread about turboing one of these sleds, I think an SX

Hoping some others will chime in for sure!

I could be wrong, but I think the yammi's you have to run oil to the bottom end just like the Doo's. I cant remember, but it may end up at the water pump. Its just a gravity feed, you dont have to run it off a pump.

not that I know a turbo from a muffler bearing.. but I still check the thread everyday.

Good to hear people are still checking this thread! thanks. I may have sent you a PM on it too. If that's the case, I should be able to hook a reservoir to those two lines on the bottom of the case then and just make sure it's always full of oil? right now those lines go to the injection pump.

Another question I have is, does AV gas burn up 2 stroke engines? I've heard this from some guys that built turbo's. They said it's because of the low lead. Doesn't really make sense to me since pump gas has no-lead and can be used up to 8PSI boost. Is it safe to run AV in a turbo application?

No avgas doesn't burn up 2 strokes. There are pros and cons to it like everything. Some guys love it and some don't. There is a great avgas thread if you do a search. Just really depends on what octane you need.

Yea right! Your knowledge is great Obi wan. Lol.

that's what I thought. Hear of a lot of guys running av gas. I'd just like to be able to turn the boost up a little higher and not have to worry about it. Cheaper than race gas too.
