BRP is takin care of us, so stop complaining

The comparison is they are both snowmobiles, cost roughly the same when new and are intended for the same purpose. As to which will go where, that depends on the rider and always will. The problem is, there shouldn't be so many large issues with an expensive brand new STOCK machine. The fact that a company like Yami can do it reliably for the same price is just one more kick in the nuts.....because it obviously CAN be done.

And you should not have to buy a $6000 turbo (plus install for most guys) to make a stock mountain sled ridable in the mountains. Most turbo Apex's owners have over $20 G's into their sleds by the time they are complete.

Don't get me wrong the turbo Apex's do rock, but the XP is a pretty strong runner once the clutching is dialed in. I say ride what you got, learn tuning tips from other owners and be happy.

Wow this thread got way out of hand first.

Just wanted to say i like my XP and that i felt BRP had stepped up from the horrible customor service from last year, and now all it is bashing. Curious about you guys that say you can't get 60 miles out of a belt??!! i'm glad thats not me or i would probably have a different thought about BRP at the moment as i now am at 345 miles on ONE belt, i have done alot tinkering, but not much, and alot of vents

We are not the only ones having problems. I think that allot of people are jealous of a good sled.

You can have a Doo, Poo, Yami, Cat, Ford, Dodge, Honda, or what ever and without a good dealer any of them can be a pile of junk.

Oh, for the guy a few posts above--- We don't want to know about your "diller" you need to be looking for your "dealer"!!!

Totally agree with good dealer. the dealer where I live tried to charge me for the handwarmer update on my yamaha. I travel 90 miles for good customer service.

I like the comraderie of riding with other brands. I will always like what I have better, but I can still acknowledge a good sled or rider!

why do you have to spend 6000 to ride in the mtns. My sled is stock and has been an excellent mtn. sled. I ride with 2-800r, 900 poo, and m8. We all ride together and no one has to wait for the other. No one is helping tow the other or fix. Stock for stock they are all good sleds. Stock apex cannot climb as high as the others but it does just as good as them in all other areas.

I got NOS this year for the big climbs. Its hard to go w/o modding it is fun to see what you can get out of your sled.

NOS so you can climb with the other sleds in your group??

Just stating my observations. There are many Yamaha owner's are on here bashing the XP. You like what you like and I like what I like. :D

Haha. First off the yamaha hand warmer topic you found was for a phazer. We are talking big boy sleds here, not a phazer.

Second, Ill take cold hands over a new belt each ride. At least cold hands doesnt cost me over a hundred dollars per ride.

Why is it that there are so many Yamaha guys surfing the Doo forums and talking chit. Big boy sled...does a sled have to be over 600 lbs to qualify for this designation??

Original belt on my 163"!

anybody been dealing with martin in edmonton?

i have bought three new sleds there since 2000. the xp 146 being the newest one, i love the sled, its everything i wanted and more. the handwarmer thing didnt bother me, but what does bother me is this whole gearing issue. ive been trying to get a 21 tooth gear for mine and a shorter chain cuz im told i need one since im dropping down from a 23. now martin is saying its going to be a month before my parts come in...wtf. i went in there yesterday to see if i could get some answers and all the parts guy said was he could call brp and check but the last time he called he was on hold for over an hour. what the hell does that do for me? i guess all im saying is im just frustratated with the way martins been treating me, and im positive it will be the last time i deal with them. so anybody know where i can get a shorter chain?? cuz im sure someone is gearing down a 154 and those are runnin a 21 tooth gear.

No but it does have to be more than 80hp

I dont insult the XP. my friend has one and it rips. Still on his original belt.

Its just when someone compares a handwarmer problem on an 80hp sled to a belt problem that can happen every single ride, on a 150hp sled, its stupid.

If your friend has a XP that rips and is still on its original belt, WTF are you commenting about?? Just another Yamaha guy that like to talk chit for no reason apparently.

Because sparky back there feels the need to compare an 80hp Phazer Handwarmer Problem to a continuing belt problem on a big mountain machine that BRP has yet to fix.

Ski doo guys are so defensive. Think you own a public forum. I hear though, that this is a public forum and i can click on the Ski-Doo forum and post whenever i feel like. Its a public forum over the internet and people get their panties in some of the biggest wads ive ever seen.:rolleyes:

Again...just tired of reading BS posts from guys that have no personal experience on the XP. Good luck with your RX-1's. Now good day to you sir...

Why dont you go read posts from member "johnny be bad"
Hes an XP owner with no Yamaha experience but i think only posts in the yamaha forum.

What happened to your previous post about riding your buddies sled for a few hours and liking it?

Some people are having belt issues, but that does mean everyone is. I far as I'm concerned there are no belt problems until I experience one first hand.

I thought if i put that i rode his sled for a few hours and liked it that someone would somehow pick at me for that.

I have ridden an XP though, and i loved it. If i could sell my sled and he would sell me his for a good price i would buy it.

Why does everyone think the Apex needs a turbo to ride in the hills ? I don't get it, maybe some of these guys have never thrown a leg over one. I rode one for 3000km stock and i went everywhere my Doo buddies went. On certains snow days the Doo's couldn't go where my Apex went until the snow setup. Guys don't put turbo's on Apex's because they have a lack of power, rather they want the best modified sled you can buy. Thats it !

Bullsh!t.

Hey RXoneton Guy....

The reason I chose a Phazer issue was to show that all manufactures were having issues. I didn't realize that the yammi guys could be insulted so easily. Our beloved BRP is having some issues now just like other manufactures have had in the past. I am not pleased with it, but have found a way around it.

I Doo believe we need to change the title of this thread to "Why my 'Big Boy Sled' can Doo everything and more than the XP!!!"

If you have a guy on the Yammi threads talking about something he doesn't know much about, you can see how we view the Yammi guys here on the Doo threads!

..."Sparky".....I kinda like that, how Doo I change my user name??
