I don't come here to start problems with people, I come here for good information, I have to travel way too far just to ride my sleds right now and need them to be in top shape when I get there.
I get upset as do most people, when someone comes in and bashhes the sleds we paid hard earned $$ for , For no reason other than to start a problem.
I like the XP's, I paid for them, If you don't like em who really cares? I don't go to the other manufacturer threads and tell them what a pile they're riding, I really don't care what you ride.
The XP's do have a few issues right now, and hopefully we can get them figured out before the snow is gone. I haven't had any problems with mine yet, but I do like to have a heads up if one arises as it cost me a lot of time and $$ to even get to them ,So the more info I can get the quicker the problem is resolved.
So lets cut the crap and try to help each other out instead of creating animosity among us.

Agreed, I hope we can share ideas that will help us all, regardless of brand choices. I listen to the Apex vs XP and Dragon threads and am constantly amazed at how any one with a clue can try to compare them.. They couldn't be further apart, but people still try.

so is your dealer good or bad? the page before he was great, now you say hes not! which is it?

Bullsh!t.

Hey Slim its not bullsh!t. I have rode with Summitboy a lot. We generally like to ride in the trees and I always am amazed at how well that Apex has performed right from day one. I have commented many times that not many guys are riding an Apex where we enjoy riding. There has been really light pow on two different occasions where that stock Apex was ripping all over the place and my Rev could hardly get moving and needed to take a run at everything. It did not last long (maybe a couple hours) and the snow had changed enough that my Rev was hooking up, but I have seen it.

As for the XP that is what I am riding now and although the sled rips and I love the light handling I am more than disappointed in the quality. I am on my third belt with a total of 400 miles. I machined the secondary in order to gain the proper belt deflection, geared it down, added pin weight. I now have three days riding in on this last belt and it still looks good although the clutches are still way too hot.

My fuel gauge is a sporadic piece of sh!t and I never know how much fuel I have left. All sorts of other electrical gremlins like trip meters resetting to zero when shut sled off, and the mode buttons not always working as supposed to(find if I shut off and restart usually fixes this problem). Also I am tired of having cold hands. I have a RKT head at home that I would like to install but I have too many other issues to sort out and I do not want to compound my problems.

My riding experience is not what it could have been. We really enjoy exploring but this sled has not given me the confidence that it will not leave me stranded. Now I'm just waiting for the driveshaft to break when I'm in the middle of nowhere. I sure hope we get some answers from Doo before this year becomes a right off for me.

You are right about the area, that area is Revy ! The harder the XP is worked (bottomless powder, epic year) the more the problems arise. I'm not sure what kind of snow you have but you take a great XP rider and put him in these kind of conditions you will continue to blow belts regardless. We have done clutching, gearing, machining and are working on the secondary (Doo dealer in the mountains) to minimize the compounding effects of a poor design/setup. Sure i could take it to my dealer but he knows nothing more than we do and he refuses to get on BRPs back about it.

These Summits are not built for hardcore mountain abuse, hence all the time and effort we have to put into them to make them stay reliable and run without the fear of leaving you in a pickle. The XP is by far the best performing/working machine Doo has, but it comes at a great sacrifice to the customers. They went light and thats great but you and I are paying for it overall, whether it be buying belts, driveshafts etc, or losing money in resale, we pay for it. Where is the accountability ? If I did my job in this careless manner there would be hundreds of people dead !

You work at McDonalds?

If your dealer is out on the mountains all the time thats a good thing, Man. At least they're running their sleds and figuring out how and what works

The title is BRP is takin care of us, so stop complaining!!!

Seriously, how did a perfectly viable and info based thread turn into a war of XP vs Apex? Shouldn't we be touching on these issues rather than playing 'My Dad is Bigger Than Your Dad'. C'mon guys, can we just swallow a little pride and get this thread back on track. Now someone has to weed through all the B.S. to get any info out of this (like I just did)!!!

sorry dude! but its a soap opera on here. try doo talk or totally yamaha if you want real info! and as for info? every one on heres an expert on every one elses brand but there own! 50% true 50% bs. have fun figuring which is which.

Which part is bull$hit ?

The part about DOO's not going where your Apex did until the snow set up.

Now I admit, any SLed, will show inferiority in deep snow if not set up correctly, but a correctly setup Doo Summit against a heavier correctly setup sled, will not be playing "follow the Apex" in deep Snow.

This was with a 04 Summit. Probably the best 04 i have ever seen. You had to be there to believe it. Just the right snow condition, thats it. 2 hours later the snow setup and the Rev was back up to where it was the day before.

NO response: re-posted....

<<Hey SummitBoy,

How about sharing some of the nitty-gritty with your audience?
Not an excuse for secretive evidence, but pictures and descriptions of the problem. There are a lot of tuners on here maybe someone can offer a fix othe r than our beloved BRP.

<<He has emailed them pictures and pictures of what he has found and nothing. >>

Ok, I've gotta have my two cents on this thing...I've casually met Summitboy and his wife in Revy, they are nice people. I understand there is a lot of issues with the new Xpees, having never owned a 2008 I can't say much. But I hope I never have problems with my 2007 REV, because warranty might be a real son of a beatch!!! So far this has been a great machine "FOR ME" and I hope it stays that way.

Hey johnny!! Lets see how smart you are if a sled went half way up a hill and you went 3 times higher how high did you go???????

Well there are about 12 XP riders I personally know and ride with. Most of us are running the same clutch set up (not from dealer). No belt issues at all. On guy has close to 900 miles on the original belt. Those are deep dark forrest miles. Other than a few minor issues I love my ride. The driveshaft issue is a little disturbing though.

I post on here and TY and have found other members very helpful to tune my sled. It saves headaches and $. PM these guys help them out! You can help this thread stop.

Let's hear the clutch setup! Maybe we can get some more of these things running proper.
