Today, first sledding

cabef53a9ed3.jpg

Here we go, recall time! gonna be interesting to see if anymore break this weekend now that there is some snow....

Realbass....how did it break? did it just snap suddenly?

IMO a glued driveshaft is just a stupid idea....perhaps if the end protruded much further into the shaft for more contact surface and there was an additional fastening method (rivets, etc) in addition to the glue it might be ok. Yes this glue is amazing stuff, but you have so much strain on a driveshaft...flexing, twist, shock, etc.

I will bet money that polaris switched the vendor and/or design for the production sleds and thats why the prototypes were fine.

--If I had a 13 Pro, I would want an upgraded replacement driveshaft before my first ride. Using glue and having a minimal contact surface area is asking for trouble even if it holds up 100 miles. The fact of having minimal contact surface area alone would have me concerned.

--I ride in mountain and backcountry terrain. I must have a reliable machine, not just to get back to the truck, but also for safety and dependability going up, across, and down steep slopes, chutes, etc. not to mention being able to hit the brakes going into a turn on a trail. Safety not just for myself, but also for my equipment and others around.

--Seems we have about a dozen people riding and about half of them have seen failures -- no problem here

--Some of you guys are going to drive 100+ miles to get to your riding area, hop on your brand new sled, and not even make it above treeline before you need a tow back to the truck. Just be careful of the terrain you choose to ride so you do not get hurt.

--If I ride with a someone on a Pro, I will now have to ask more questions:

--How many miles on the sled
--Have you replaced the pistons on you Pro 800
--Have you upgraded the driveshaft on your 13 Pro

Polaris...... good or bad, we each get to decide. But you sir, you sound like an a$$ no matter what your choice of ride. If you dont like it , dont buy it, but stop enjoying others misfortune so much, it really does expose true character....... yours.
funny how soon everyone forgets. remember pinecones? the 'doo guys took a lot of the same sh!t and no one cried, the polaris crowd seems way more sensitive....

But i think the Cat and Poo boys really cared about you as a person thru it all. And i'm really trying to stay off any one team, but IMO, there has never been any group ever, ever, who are more defensive and sensitive than the bumble bee crowd.:face-icon-small-hap Must be the doolaid. :face-icon-small-win
As i said, you guys loved em when they were wide and light, loved em when they were wide and heavy, now you love em more when they come narrow tippy and heavy. kinda confusing to someone not fully infected.

lol....who says we don't care about our fellow riders? I would stop and give a hand no matter what breed you choose. remember, what comes around, goes around. ride what you like, and have fun doing it. but expect the internet banter to remain....

agreed, unfortunately some seem to relish the hardships others who have chosen differently than them suffer, i assume lack of confidence in theur own choices, otherwise, why would you care. must suck to need others to suffer to make you feel smarter.

don't waste your time or energy on those who choose to act in such a way. most are good people that just like to get a reaction.

MH is this the Lords adhesive they use everywhere? So if the design is OK(who knows) and just maybe the application was bad wouldn't it be very simple to just remove the shaft. Put some heat to it to get it apart. Clean both parts really well and glue it back to together. Seems like a simple fix. I have a 13 waiting to pick up right now. If I go to the hassle of fixing it before I ride it I am only out an afternoon. If I ride it and it breaks I am probably at the end of a long line as I won't even ride the sled for at least a month.
