Big trouble today - help needed!!!!

Just pulled up my cookie crumb trail from today and we were right near you guys. Riding the ridge between the Iron Mine creek and Iron Mine lake, started going to the creek, looked at the GPS and dropped down into the Lake instead. Still awaiting Lat/Long to confirm and the story on how you guys got out, looks nasty on the topo. Just follow the creek back out?

Glad everyone got home in one piece, could have ended alot worse than it did.

I have the lat/long at home and will post tomorrow when I get there.
Just follow the creek back out? oh sure? NOT! pretty much un-doable.

Spencer, me pointing? some one said where's the dumbass and you went that'a way. LOL. ;) actually, the workout and test of spirit and will did me good! I feel empowered now. Thanks... sort of.

I love you guys. you care you help and you crack me up!!! Go Steelers! wooohooo

You carck me up?? WTF!!! To much info!!

Kim I have the same question for all these cities who took my money last year and don't have a pot to piss in now?? Poor planning?? I knew the great times wouldn't last how could they not???

Hector, tic toc tic toc.. I'm done! after 2 days like that and only 2.5 hours sleep last night, game over. :moon:

blake.. but you don't gamble! ;) Thanks for the call today.

"funding" could be a real problem, for the helicopter that flew 5 of our friends home last night. Word on the street we could be loosing both of the B2's the DPS has. (one of them flew you all home last night) could have been a long cold night?!? I know you are not the only people "saved" by having these ships available, could be time to look into seeing what the public can do to ensure these helicopters are around in the future to ensure our safety.

Seeing first hand the money they put into those aircraft I doubt they will be going away anytime soon. Which in came and picked the guys up? 351SL or 352SL?

My hub rocks!!! Great job guys, well done. 1mex you rock too. Way to get er done everyone. Great to see you all pull together and help one another out. I'm proud my hub could be a part of it. Now he needs to get to bed.

HOLA from south of the equator - Summer Sucks!!

Great to hear you got everything and everyone out! So let's hear the rescue details now that you've got some rest!

Did you snowshoe down in??? Trying to figure out where all the "shoein" took place. Did you just end up climbing them out the top or taking them out the north or south routes??

yea..."just ride down the creek" -totally impossible! I've been down there a ways!! NOT GOOD!

I have had a difficult time understanding how the state has squandered the large surplus they have had over the past few years!!?? I am ready and willing to petition the legislature to ensure these birds are able to keep flying and saving lives. Thanks to them for bringing our friends home safely last night!

Heard on the radio this morning that they spent $30,000 on new high def flat screen tv's for their offices!! Oh ya, they all have cable in their offices too. So, if you can get them out from behind their ****ing tv's, maybe they would even read your letters!!

Holy Crap am I ever stiff!!! slept 9 1/2 hours too. that never happenes. either.

RMKRAZY we set up shop up hill to the west .44 miles up from the sleds. 3 of us shoed down. we could NOT find the roads on the north or the south. S&R want to go in by Jeep in the summer and look for those. we could not find any roads on north or south sides. Had to drive up the drainage to the west after a trail was made. Kevco was sent in on our foot path. lol. took courage. what's another stuck sled, right? took mas skilz to drive these sleds out. HUGE kudos to all who drove. Most technical drive out of anywhere in my life. Crazy stuff.

CC, $30K TV's? nice bail out! wtf? is right.

Spencer, maybe we need to start a petition thread on it's own to support the funding of these birds.

I am working on a letter of thanks to Wasatch Co. and Summit County S&R that will go to the Trib.

Kyle burned me a CD of pics before he left for FL and I'll get it this morning and who can I email them to for posting?????

Holy crap!!!
I login and see this. I'm glad that everyone made it out safe. I wish I could have been there to help out. I could have just strapped a sled to my back and hiked them out one at a time. J/K:D
Let me know where I need to send a letter to keep those birds flying.

WOW! glad to hear everyone made it out o.k. my group came across Chief manning one of the exits out of soapstone about the same time the chopper picked you guys up I guess, He seemed worried, for good reason, but I'm glad to hear you are all home in one piece and all fine. Funny thing is we road all around the ridge of the bowl you guys were in and didn't even realize the distress going on at the bottom, So how was that "road" getting out of that bowl? I imagine it was one long side hill, Got Dan Gardiner??

The first link is where the sleds spent the night. The second link is where we started the recovery from Sunday. Pretty much a side hill and thru the bottom banging out. If you go directly south of the first link is how we got into said shatty spot. 7 hours of three guys with tow straps hanging off the back of a sled pulling with everything we had to keep the sled from sliding out of control while one guy steered and pumped the breaks 200 ft at a time. Then everyone hike back up to the next sled. 5 sleds total. We had to of done close to 5,000ft of vertical climbing to get all of sleds to the bottom Saturday. No wonder my legs hurt!
