Big trouble today - help needed!!!!

You guys are the bomb... Thanks go out right now to all who are going to show up in the am. I hope I can walk. On second thought I will just wait at the top of the hill for sledhead UT to ride mine out! :D I better get some sleep going to be ANOTHER long day....

DAM!!!!!!!!!

I'd go load up now and be there in the morning if I wasn't getting on a plane to Argentina at 11AM! You boys be safe tomorrow and god speed getting everyone and everything out safely!!

Would like to know where you were at up there when it's all said and done! I "claim" to know that area well and have a hunch as to where you were, but would like to hear and see more later!

Good luck! Bummed I can't gear up and go tomorrow!!

Thanks. It was the Iron Mtn Drainage as it heads towards the Duchesne Drainage. nice flat bottom (to land a chopper in) , walls for sides. YEP! walls! ugh.

enjoy your trip! we have a first class group for tomorrow. Great response to our distress call.

This place?

Rock - is this where you guys are stuck at??

Lower (larger) circle is where my gut tells me you were at. Upper smaller circle is Cold Spring meadow/hill area.

If this happens to be the place you are stuck at, there is an old road in the trees (to your left as you look back up the hill you would have dropped down) that winds up and out the top, but in the winter it's nearly impossible to tell it's there! I've been stuck down there before for hours trying to climb out - finally broke down and found the old road and we were able to get out. The last sidehill up out of the trees and back on top was hairy though!

Might not be the place - but figured I'd throw this out if it is!

YUP! that big circle is it! but we came down the left side as you look at it. through the pines! damn! I think the road you mean is on the side with the Aspens and may be filled in. The sheriff told us it was there but a mean side hill. thanks for the google!!!

Rock - my gut said you were down in there!

This is going to suck to explain in writing.. but....If you came down through the pines on the left as you look at the attached Google, then you need to go look closer in those pines right at the base of the big hill against the pines. Trust me - there is a road from that point that heads towards the south initially and then back up the hill switchback style. The road is in the pines the whole time until it pops you back up on top.

We had to hike around in the pines there a bit to find it, but we found it and were able to use it to get out. We could not climb out either - too deep!

This might help you! DAM I WISH I COULD GO TOMORROW!!

ME TOO! hard to believe there could be a road on that pine treed cliff face. we'll look for it!!!! Thanks

I hope you were finally able to sleep and you read this in the morning and not now!! nerves got you up still? I can understand that! :beer;

One more of my caveman google drawings to give you an idea of how that road runs. I may not be spot-on, but it's pretty damn close! you can kind of see the road in the google pic a bit when it makes a big zag.

Gov,when we found that road I still never thought it would get us out - but it did! And that was on 136" tracked 97 and 98 700 RMKs!!

Get 'er done boys! Be safe - god speed!

I wonder who will remember "Gov"?? good times on the old 4m baby! :) i don't want to hear about "nails in coffins" Rock - get back on that horse and ride cowboy!!

LOL. i rarely get GOV anymore. good memory.

I was going to ask if you are in the flats at the bottom staring at the pine wall we just came down was the road to the right or the left. It looks like to the left now that I see your drawing.

yeah, I am so on edge from today, and sore and tired and rattled that I can't sleep. wth? I need my rest but my mind is lit up. what a DAY!

thanks. i hope that we just ride these out. and I will get back on the horse as soon as I can walk. cheers!

oh well. Chief just called and won't be making it today. he's in too much pain. he got banged up getting out alone yesterday and still stayed up there alone all day helping us and trying to figure out what to do. Feel better Chief!

I think/hope Kyle has the gps co-ords and I have at least an idea of where the top of the drainage is.

also in this thread we've been informed that there is a road in/out per RMKRAZY. I think finding that road is key!!!

BIG GOOD NEWS!!! Brent Black from Weller's (and an S&R guy) who has been in there to get people out before just called and he'll be joining us. He knows where we're going in and has an idea how to get us out! :) :) :)

OK, I'm in I have a white Dodge truck with small enclosed triton trailer. Brent is the one person here that I know. Please look for me at the trail head black rev bright green jacket. I'll have ski rack and skis with skins to help cut a trail if needed.

  Glad everyone is ok......and please keep it that way today. That truly sucks, but darn happy you all made it home safely, and didn't spend the night on the mountain. I'll keep an eye on this thread today....hoping that this goes well without any carnage or injuries.

Doug, I hope you got some sleep last night. From the times between your last post, and this morning's, doesn't look like it was much. I'm sure you're brain was in high gear.

Please post any updates, and of course.....if anyone gets pics, they'd be nice to see (though I'm sure that is the last thing on anyone's mind). I'll be using my Jedi Mind Tricks to send some positive mojo your way. ;) :)

Holy crap  Just logged into the forum and find this out. Hope everything works out OK. Had I known earlier, I could have helped out. If you have to go back on Monday, I can be available to help. Glad no one was injured. Good luck today. :beer; The forum is good but maybe we can start a calling tree for emergencies like this.

Good luck to you all out there. I wish I would have seen this last night. Sounds like an adventure. Hope you get them out.
