So first of all I guess those with their panties in bunch didn't read that the sled that went down was an IQ 600. I guess they are so used to hearing about the Poo 8 they ASSumed it was an 8.
Secondy, Sledr900. Since you know some of the story but not all of the story I will fill you in. I had purchased the SLP stage III kit locally. Dealer assured me if I bought from him that if there was a problem and it wasnt' because of the kit, he would take care of me. Installed kit. Sled never ran right. It would foul BPR9EIX left and right. Ruined 3 trips for me and about 4 sets of plugs. SLP was great help. They asked me how many miles were on the sled. I told them about 1100 miles and they said, "Well that's your problem. It needs to be rebuilt." OH hell no. I told him. It only has 1000 miles!!! He said, "Oh hell yes." "Every one of test sleds had to be rebuilt at about 1000 miles." I was stubborn but after another ruined sledding trip I talked dealer into taking the top end apart to find knifing pistons and chipping/flaking rings....just as SLP told me I would find. So by your take on things if I start smoking cigars tomorrow and I cough for 3 weeks so I see my doctor and he says I have cancer it was because of the cigars, right? IDFTS. But you probably heard the story from the dealer so it was to his benefit to leave some information out. Funny how the dealer side stepped any responsibility and I had to foot the bill even though the damage was there BEFORE I installed the kit. Yes, I had them put the kit on. Yes, I knew it could void my warranty. No, I didn't think the dealer rep would tell Polaris I had the SLP stuff on my motor to get my warranty voided when he knew it was pre-existing. So as someone else stated, DEALER, DEALER, DEALER. You're right and that I find is more important than the sled.
Thirdly, I started this thread in response to the some of the comments in the "Best handling sled ....but weight" thread. I believe some people were dogging cat and cat guys for saying and believing that, yes their sleds are heavier but they are reliable. If you take out any connotation and reread my original post you can see that I was stating that, hey, maybe it's true that these guys don't have many issues with their sleds. I walked into their service shop and they really didn't have any sleds in there being worked on. But instead of thinking, "Hey, that's a cool observation." The Polaris guys post in the Cat section that "Well that's because there is 10000 pro sold for every 1 summit or M8000." Ok. That must be it. You might not see the same results in your town. Didn't say you would. It's what I saw and experienced.
Yes, Jaynelson, you have a wonderful running INDY DAN LR motor in your Pro chassis. Sorry, that is no longer a Polaris product in my mind and if you want to get right down to it why if you think Polaris is so f'ing great are you not running a stock Polaris motor? Because they last so long? So in conclusion I guess if I stated I was able to get my POLARIS sled right in for service work at CAT/DOO dealer instead of waiting for a week or more at the POLARIS dealer and from the outside it would appear that they have less problems with their sleds is whining I guess I am whining. I hope I get the same whining ,I mean service, from them in the future.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A STORY ABOUT CRAPPY POO 8 MOTORS!!! I am not trying to start a pissing match but I guess I did. Sorry to all the other Polaris guys out there that I may have offended. Obviously, that was not my intention or I would have posted it in the POLARIS section so I could get more bang for my buck.
BTW: I may be wrong Jaynelson. You might not have an INDY DAN motor. I may have you confused with somebody else. If so, I apologize a head of time. If not, point made.
