2024 catalyst

From what I could find online, the m6 Alpha weighed 466lbs dry, and that's an e-start only model. A 10% weight loss, or 46.6lbs, puts it at 419.4 lbs dry. If the new one is also e-start, that's pretty impressive. If not, it's still pretty good but most of the weight loss comes from elimination of e-start.

If you apply the 10% weight loss to the 800 at 446lbs with no e-start, you lose 44.6lbs, putting it at 401.4lbs which would make it the lightest mountain sled ever made, a pretty impressive feat for Cat.
That weight with their track and drive system would be awesome even with the same 800. Add a few hp from the new "big bore" they talk about and it could be amazing.

Those are close to the numbers Ive heard thrown around.

Looks nice
I'd agree; I think it looks the best of the three current chassis. Of course, you have to qualify that by saying that Doo and Poo have both poured enormous resources into the styling of their sleds, seemingly with the intention of making the ugliest machine possible. It'll be interesting to see what my in-person impression of the G5 will be (and the Catalyst), but the first time I saw the Martyx ride by - whoa ugly! Not sure what bug inspired their styling team, but...

Anyway, I've been wondering when somebody besides Poo would finally go to a belt drive. As for the boards and skis, not sure why they didn't correct those a long time ago; why sell a sled with stuff you're going to want to tear off and replace? I'll be interested to see how the composite boards feel and hold up. That seems like a great idea, but you've gotta wonder if there's a reason it hasn't been tried yet. If they can win in the weight department, and the handling is in or close to the sweet spot, I'll definitely be interested. I still wonder why not just push out a CTEC 800 for '24, but there's a pretty good chance I'll be squeezing a couple more years out of my Pro anyway. It'll be interesting to see where they go with motors. An improved 600 and 800, plus a 800 turbo, seem fine to me (especially if they're lighter), but I'd expect something bigger. It's not that the extra 5-10HP is going to make or break your day 99% of the time, it's more a question of how many sales you're going to lose if you've got "just an 800."

It will be nice to have some more info sooner than later and hopefully some video and ride reports from their team. Slight hype up on social media every few weeks works wonders instead of nothing. They will sell a lot of sleds if they produce a big bore that’s 400lbs dry.

Zach Herfindahl Racing page posted an extended clip of spring testing in the mountains on the ZR600 RXC. 1500 mile race pace test. He's one of the XC racers and makes it look light on it's feet mashing moguls.

Interview posted with him today. Sounds like the chassis is more rigid to start with. Then does a better job of maintaining the rigidity through the lifespan of the snowmobile. Hopefully the new steering system on the XC maintains the low steering effort with the more vertical mountain post setup.

^you wanting to try drugs again? haha

im looking forward to seeing this 600 on the dyno and compare to poo's 650, that you cant ride till spring likely now lol

Yeah, I think so haha

What are the chances of the skid mounting points being the same as 18-23 allowing a twin rail swap? Or any chance of a a aftermarket company making one?

I emailed arctic cat to find out if there will be a twin rail option offered via snow check or if there is any options. Not really expecting to hear back.

It took ski doo almost a decade before they started offering a non-t-motion skids, I hope cat doesn’t hold onto this dumb mono rail only for that long.

At least with Doo you had a cheap option (about $300) to switch out the rear arm and delete the t-motion.

Cat should do the same.

You are wrong, the one with the red is clearly the Pro. 95% new parts may be the “marketing way of speaking” but 95% is 95% fan boy.

The Axys geometrically is far different from the Pro. Try interchanging the tunnel, skid, over structure, and front end and let me know how it goes.

You can tell looking at the a-arms. They were round chromoly or depending on the year carbon fiber the axys has forged aluminum ones.

Certainly looks promising. Just need a bigger motor released and some actual ride reports.

Ya gotta wonder with all the supply issues if the "larger than 800" Cat will be widely available in time for the 2025 model year or more realistically 2026.

I wonder if Doo will have a "larger than" 850 by then. Can't imagine they let Poo get away with a 900.
