2024 catalyst

does the 600 have a motor plate? im not seeing how the 858 is lighter otherwise, i get that necked down jugs weigh more than pistons but the jugs and rods are longer on the 858 right..
they say the 858 sits lower so must be in the mounting system no?
Correct, the 858 has the mount provisions cast into the lower case half and mounts directly to the chassis.

It would be really cool if the belt pitch is the same as the Gates/Mitsuboshi (sp) and aftermarket could just supply new top pulleys for whatever ratios we thought we needed.

Engine mounting, new simplified power valve system, different recoil cover, and it looks like efforts were made on the casting designs to keep them light on the 858 too. I'm sure it all adds up.

If my memory is still working those belts are a 8 mm pitch there are options but 8mm is a standard for this application.

OK, and how about the exhaust? thought i heard the pipe is lighter too. reports are that exhaust isnt shown on display 858s yet.

AC has been holding their cards pretty close to their chests on this sled with good reasons. I think the exhaust is either not production finished or there is something they don't want the competition to see yet. I was also told the exhaust is lighter. The display 858 is an engineering test sled so who knows? What I do know is these sleds are light with a low COG and I haven't been this excited about a new sled in a long time. These sleds are going to be awesome!

Come down to the Utah Snowmobile show this Friday and Saturday. Arctic Cat and Buttars Tractor in Tremonton Utah will have an 858 and 600 Catalyst sleds on display. Hurry up winter!!

Sounds like same belt (or close to it) as my C3 belt drive on my 2013. Length is same. Bit wider by look of it though.
The Cat belt appears to be the same size belt as the TKI kit uses. The limitations will be the largers size gear that can fit in the case and how small the top gear can go without stripping teeth.

Looks like material can be removed and a big sprocket could fit. One would have to see in person. Good forward thinking!

Items of note for those of you that break stuff:

$442 - replacement 146 tunnel is pretty reasonable. Way cheaper than the $1700 I paid for a mountain cat tunnel for my 2014!
$48 - plastic running board replacement and another $70 if you bend the main edge support.
$1035 - front chassis clip.
$83 - Upper A-arm
$118 - Lower A-arm
$191 - Spindle
$170 - Belt Drive belt. (2.625 ratio by the way with 24/63 gears) Don't see any accessory gear part numbers in that particular window.
$86 - Main hood top piece.
Upper and lower half of the intake show unavailable and no price yet. This would be the part you'd break in a head-on with a tree.
$118/125 for side panels w/o decals.
$985 - 146 x 2.6 track
$1077 - 165 x 3.0 track (under the old M8000)
$3.50 - Track clip This is way better than the $9/clip they were charging for those of us who fully clip the tracks!
$525 - 146 rail

2.625 is extremely slow ratio. Do they use 3,5" pitch drivers or 3"?
Same gear ratio Cat currently uses on all their mountain sleds. The 3" paddle tracks are 7T 3.5 pitch. The 2.6" lug tracks are 2.86 pitch with 8T drivers I believe. So they aren't real small dia drivers.

Gen 4 and the Axys where ground up new sleds form both manufacturers, facts are facts. In the pro vs Axys chassis pics it’s super obvious they are different and which chassis is which. Cat ran with the same skeleton since 2012. The proclimb was a step back for mountain riders, watch the video cat even says so them selves. They put fix after fix to that chassis every year to improve it. Having a chassis that would except such a broad spectrum of engines (4 stroke and 2 stroke) limited what cat could do. I hope the Yamaha and cat 4 strokes where left off the table for design purposes with catalyst.
Hi there, I make a living luring boosted nytro, 1100 cats with big chute, turbo and nitrous apex. I am very good as making a very clean factory worry free machine. Always keep the the Yamaha or Polaris driveline and belts usually depend if customer wants revers. I did just finish and IQR with a 1000 cc apart 8.8 gallon trail tank 2 Jerry no exhaust under seat uses factory dump if tunnel. With a 155 track nicely set up machined half duels under 520 pounds, machines more ridgid motor mounds much lower the the 2 stroke. Great Center of gravely. Options are endless but they are a blast and can’t ever worry they will let you down. Solid, cheap to own last and hold resail.
