2023 cat. Where is it?

Now wait a second...that says turbocharged 998 ctec4? What's to keep that out of a mountain sled? Is that old too? Iam so new I don't even know what's old hat lol.
they have offered a turbo 4s in mountain sleds since 2012, discontinued in 2018 because of no demand i can only assume. when yamaha and cat merged they adopted the 998 yamaha motor for the turbo applications and the 1049 yamaha motor for the early non turbo vipers.
 
Yes that engine was in a mtn sled in 2017 and 2018. Not sure if it went any longer than that under the cat name.
 
So why does the big turbo suck? To heavy or is it a 4stroke and to heavy lol? Just curious cause 998 is bigger than 850...You'd thunk guys would poach those cylinders and pistons yada yada and make a bigger ctec2? We used to cut cases bigger all the time in the Harley world. ???
 
Wow I don't really care about colors, but those are absolutely horrendous. Just put out a solid black or green sled next year and you'd make more profit than that crap. BNG. At least nothing new at all should mean new chassis and engine next year. Or good luck to them if not

It’s a 3 cylinder 4 stroke, so it is like 60 lbs heavier, but it came with 200+hp from the factory.

Buddy had a turbo viper… they make insane power and torque when turned up, but it felt 300lbs heavier to me. They say the King Cats were better, but they are still significantly heavier than a two stroke.
 
Guy rode one of those turbo mountain sleds with us one day and said he was getting rid of it.

Went great in a straight-line and sounded cool. It was not so great side hilling or going slow through the trees. So heavy that every time he got stuck he had to wait for at least two other guys to help him out.
 
The Turbo 4s mountain sleds were like driving a bus in the trees. Awesome power, poor handling. Felt like my 2005 Summit 1000. If they could significantly improve the handling to hide the weight somehow, it would be better. My MCX Turbo Nytro handled better. I really want to see Cat succeed, but they're going to have to try harder.
 
Secret to success if you're Cat:

1. Have a decent product.
2. Update it regularly.
3. Make sure people know about the product and the updates.
4. Treat your dealers and customers well.
5. Pray Doo and Poo don't do items 1-4 very well or at all.
I would imagine anyone left ordering a Cat in 2023 is pretty much only the die hards that won't leave the brand. I cant see any Poo or Doo rider jumping ship to Cat. What do they have to offer to persuade new riders? They have zero social media presence I couldnt name one brand ambassador for them. They should be counting their lucky stars they have the fan base they do otherwise they would be flat broke. Would be nice to see them compete with Doo and Poo and push those brands harder but they will never do that at this pace.

U will not agree with what I have to say, and that's OK. Ur opinion is not more valuable than mine and mine is not more valuable than urs. They're just opinions....
But ur statement makes it obvious that you are not familiar with all brands.


New riders don't know chit about sleds.
They have no clue as to which performs better or worse in which circumstances.

It's absolutely NOT just cat diehards that will purchase 2023 Cats.

A lot of people make their purchase decisions based solely on looks.
They will buy what they think looks the best/coolest.

Doo riders that want a better performing back country sled will look at Cat and Poo.

Poo riders that are tired of the engine issues they have had, will look at Cat.

You are obviously angry with Cat.
I don't know why and I don't care.

2003.5 - 2022, doo has been a distant 3rd place for backcountry riding. Cat and Poo have been swapping for first place.

2023 expert looks like it might get Doo back in to 2nd place!? For backcountry riding. Definitely will not beat the Matryx but it might beat the Cat. The non-expert is still a distant 3rd place.
