2023 cat. Where is it?

One of the founding members that started Polaris split off and started the company that would become Arctic Cat. As stated Textron owned Polaris much earlier and sold it. No overlap between Polaris and Arctic Cat on an engineering or manufacturing level. There are some companies that have supplied parts to both, TEAM clutches and Hayes brakes for example, but nothing is really the same design other than the Hayes master cylinders and secondary clutches for a few years.

Much of the Cat history can be read here: https://www.bosscatlegacy.com/acproto/acprotohis.htm

An old Hot rodder like yourself would probably enjoy checking out some of the old Boss Cat race iron too! https://www.bosscatlegacy.com/sitemap/sitemap.htm

The parent company that now owns Polaris also owns Klim, Timbersled, Ice Age, and probably some others. Arctic Cat bought Motorfist before the Textron buyout, and they've done a good job of trying to run that into the ground too.
Polaris is the parent company labeled as Polaris Industries. They also owned GEM car and TaylorDunn, there was some news of those being sold in the last 6 months though.

I don't understand the lack of marketing by AC/Textron. With the prices of new sleds and complexity they could refine the current models and keep prices lower and market themselves as a less expensive and reliable option, much like the Japanese dual sport motorcycles like the Kawasaki KLR 650 and Suzuki DRZ 400 for example. They could keep loyal fans by doing some basic upgrades such as raised platform (like an Ice Age kit), taper the tunnel and snowflap, bring back a MC dual rail option, and keep the price competitively less then doo and poo. They have been working with Garmin on the dirt side, so why not offer a Garmin/AC gauge upgrade? Maybe these are things in the works, but they sure have failed on the marketing side. The Black Cats is about all that's out there, but if they wanted to kickstart their marketing bring in some of the social media guys like Muskoka, Syxxes, and maybe try and bring back Chris Burandt as brand ambassadors. Probably get more bang for the buck marketing exposure that way then all the model reveal shows and traditional advertising.
The Garmin Tread is also for sleds. I have the base model and trail mount. Works great and unlike the competition, can be taken from sled to ATV so you get dual use out of it. Love mine. Sits right above my standard gauge so it is very visible.

Good to know, I also do the ATV/motorcycle thing in the summer. If AC partnered with Garmin it would be a huge marketing coup as they're probably the biggest player in the GPS world.

Well Im going to assume Cat will release the 2023 before Yamaha. as in the vid. They are March 22. Odly enough they used the word embargo?

If Cat just refined the chassis, engine and Alpha suspension, maybe raised up the front end (similar to an Ice Age kit), trim the tail/snoflap, added a dual rail model option for the Mountain Cat again, and offered the Garmin Tread integrated into the existing gauge and kept out the door costs around/under $16,000 USD, or $20,500 Canadian, would you consider one?

Yep. My twin rail elevate 2021 is awesome

I feel the same about my 2019 twin rail elevate. I’m not snowchecking this year. Supply issues being the biggest reason. I’m ok if cat just has BNG this year. But I’m sure there will be a few improvements like they’ve done the last few years. I’m certain the new chassis will tackle the weight and heavy steering issues everyone complains about, likely won’t see that this year though. My biggest wish list item is a significantly lighter e-start setup; way more than just a lite weight battery. The whole setup needs to be liter. Dirt bikes have it figured out, sleds need to jump on board.

We'll see! Some refinements with the intake and boards/bumper have been beat to death on here, but would be nice haha. Honestly I haven't really felt the heavy steering, maybe because the elevate kit? I am also 25, and run gripper skis (shallower keel). An e-start that is entirely under the hood is a must for me. Can't do that big sofa seat!

Ur young healthy shoulders are a big part of the steering, but if u hop on a new doo or Khaos and ride on crappy snow then, hop back on the cat, same day, same snow. You will see quite a difference in effort. Elevate slightly increases steering effort with the same shock settings.

That big sofa seat is worth 3 or 4 inches of suspension. Kinda like a longer version of the old boss seats.

I've got to show this to an uncle of mine. He was big into that scene, I think even sponsored by Cat, although on a much smaller scale, back in the 70s. For better or worse, that's part of the reason I know him; got to be too much for his first wife, and he ended up marrying my aunt later on. I can't remember any models or details, but he did talk about being clocked at 107 in a speed competition back then. Be really cool if he'd got a chance to drive one of those monsters! I'm sure he'd remember the Boss Cats though.
