2023 cat. Where is it?

I dunno if this is valid input and it will probably piss you real guys off but...I wrecked my blast clutch and was searching around for someone to care about my problems. Anyway I found groups on faceb@#$ and I actually got a new take off clutch for way less than a new one that I couldn't get anyway (back ordered) anyway I get that group on my "feed" now and well...they aren't like you guys at all and they are like me but worse cause they don't wanna be burandt or Caleb or even M. freerider ....but they are happy and they are going snowmobiling and going ice fishing and riding for ski access and pulling their kids around. It's actually a pretty big group and there are alot more of them and even though most aren't like real mountain guys or even wanna be they are stoked and they are buying them. Dunno if any manufacturer could rely on just one thing but I was surprised that they existed and they could care less about bng vs turbo and real world improvements. Wonder if they are making enough to not care? Like don't dig for gold sell shovels kinda thing? Like dodge ? Lol. Like the huffy of snowmobiling or model T? You know what iam sayn?

Why would that piss us off?

I’ve been telling you all along and many others on here that the brand ambassadors have absolutely no impact on our decisions.
We don’t need a new sled every year, would prefer some r&d time so they work when they’re released.
I rode six days last week, three on crappy ice, but my kids and those with us and I had a blast. None of us on new sleds, but all of us made it back to the trailer to gas, oil, go again.

“Supposedly” the chassis is done, maybe new motor options as well, but told dealers they can’t procure what they need for new chassis yet? There was buzz the new pantera 2-ups were supposed to be out, but they axed them
Before the call on Friday with dealers as they were not confident in getting motors. I’m a big Cat guy, but the year over year excuses are tough, I feel if we saw the new chassis in just the Pantera line it would have given us some hope that Textron was truly in this thing for the longer haul. The more year after year of BNG and subtle refinements; combined with darn near no marketing effort that even gets you excited for this company’s future is tough.

I feel Textron is at a true pivot point in their ownership of Arctic Cat, some may say that passed already, but if there is no new and exciting product moving forward sell it to a company with true passion for Powersports and the Arctic Cat legacy please.

i would love to see the new chassis in anything trail 2 up utility what ever, but would that make someone who will snowcheck this year wait till next year after seeing whats to come. i guess we all assume its coming anyways. I love this chassis but like any other person i get excited over NEW. but unlike a polaris rider i want my new to also work and last.

U will not agree with what I have to say, and that's OK. Ur opinion is not more valuable than mine and mine is not more valuable than urs. They're just opinions....
But ur statement makes it obvious that you are not familiar with all brands.

New riders don't know chit about sleds.
They have no clue as to which performs better or worse in which circumstances.

It's absolutely NOT just cat diehards that will purchase 2023 Cats.

A lot of people make their purchase decisions based solely on looks.
They will buy what they think looks the best/coolest.

Doo riders that want a better performing back country sled will look at Cat and Poo.

Poo riders that are tired of the engine issues they have had, will look at Cat.

You are obviously angry with Cat.
I don't know why and I don't care.

2003.5 - 2022, doo has been a distant 3rd place for backcountry riding. Cat and Poo have been swapping for first place.

2023 expert looks like it might get Doo back in to 2nd place!? For backcountry riding. Definitely will not beat the Matryx but it might beat the Cat. The non-expert is still a distant 3rd place.

A couple facts.

1. Polaris does not have more engine issues these days compared to other brands.
2. Extreme mountain riders appreciate the Cat's single rail design for manuverability. My son is a very good Polaris rider and after riding a Cat wants one. He simply can make it dance compared to the other 2 brands. For me, the weight is not acceptable.

Theres no way of proving it, either way. But I would bet that percentage wise as many or more Polaris's come off the mountain under their own power than Cat’s. You see ALOT of clutch, motor, and rail issues for how few are on the snow.

Actually, those are opinions.

I do agree that all 3 have similar engine durability. Sad to see the Suzuki safety net is gone.
Here are some facts. Or my opinion from extensive comparisons.
I have an Alpha and Khaos.
Alpha is easier to ride and has a lot more traction.
It's also very wild and washes out like no other sled on our crusty cascade concrete.
Hyfax and track melt on the trail.

I ride the khaos unless the snow is deep then it's Alpha time.

No, I honestly and for a fact don’t encounter a lot of those problems. That’s a fact.
I personally own and operate 17 of them and ride with many others.
You have guys on this forum riding poos setting 1000 miles as a benchmark for motor longevity.
That’s ridiculous.

Fact- I have ridden with 90% Polaris sleds since 2013. Have never brought one back on a rope.

Do we put over 2,000 miles on them? No. By that time something new and better comes out and we upgrade. I suppose if we rode Cat I would understand the whole having no reason to upgrade thing and running them to 5k

Weight.. was out riding over the weekend.. dual rail sleds hold 40 pounds of snow.. would love to have the sleds wight ridden.. you can have numbers tell you whatever you want!

there was a test by some magazine a few years ago that weighed the sleds dry as in fueled up buy no snow on them, then rode them all the same amount and weighed them by hanging them from a tree. Cat was lightest because of short coolers and no snow and ice on the tunnel and alpha rail no snow in the skid. before polaris finally went to painted tunnel the boards and tunnel were always chock full of lbs and lbs of ice. But there so flickable in the showroom.

That will be an immensely difficult "fact" to prove.

I wonder who's brand new, "tested for years" 850 it was that over fueled so bad they basically wouldn't run? I personally saw those things laying on their sides while the owners pumped the fuel out of their cases. Or who's 850 had a "stop sell, do not ride" before they even hit the snow this year? Or who's 850 can't seem to get any fuel due to an overheated pump motor or restricted inlet? I seem to remember something about an 850 that had to be recalled due to a crank bearing failure a year or two ago, and an oil starvation issue due to some questionable assembly procedures.
But yes, other than that, they don't have any more issues than the other two brands.

All of the brands have some issues, no doubt. One of them is very well known to experience higher failure rates of engines.

Of course I don't have the data to back it up, therefore it is only my OPINION

Cat could shed some more real world weight if they opened up the boards some. Not sure why Cat doesn’t do it? Don’t even need to retool or change much to open up the inserts and leave the rails as they are. And don’t see trail guys caring if they just opened them up more

Somewhat factual, %ages are just not quoted. Probably not factually available yet.

And then there’s the other thing….

Cat/Team Clutches!!!!!!!
Do you have any factual info you can share about these?
Fact! It’s an equal problem for a rider out in the mountains.

And to clarify, my point isn’t to say one is superior to the other, they all can and do have their expensive issues.

And that's not even an alpha ?

"Who cares what it weighs in the shop"

I believe the cat motors are built to handle more abuse, but will get towed out in same percentages as others. because theres simply more of the others on the snow, you see them towed more often. I also believe cat, like polaris, if left outside or on the truck through nasty weather, moisture will get into the electrical and do weird stuff, that was even a suzuki thing. Only time mine wouldnt start was after leaving it out on the trailer in between rides for a couple weeks. after it sat inside dealers shop, they changed plugs and fired up, never had a problem since. got charged $100 for new plugs cuz the shady service department wanted to make a quick buck and said warranty doesnt cover plugs. I think thats an epa violation.

There are parts in the cat catalogue that they should put on a optioned mtn sled and charge accordingly they have the mtn seat and running boards already. put a 146 tunnel on the 154 and a 154 tunnel on the 165 thats all the craze now days and they have the parts. drops a few lbs and costs virtually nothing. At least it would be something to talk about.

Are you here trying to roast cat owners? Or advertise to us that you don't ride very often?
