A couple facts.U will not agree with what I have to say, and that's OK. Ur opinion is not more valuable than mine and mine is not more valuable than urs. They're just opinions....
But ur statement makes it obvious that you are not familiar with all brands.
New riders don't know chit about sleds.
They have no clue as to which performs better or worse in which circumstances.
It's absolutely NOT just cat diehards that will purchase 2023 Cats.
A lot of people make their purchase decisions based solely on looks.
They will buy what they think looks the best/coolest.
Doo riders that want a better performing back country sled will look at Cat and Poo.
Poo riders that are tired of the engine issues they have had, will look at Cat.
You are obviously angry with Cat.
I don't know why and I don't care.
2003.5 - 2022, doo has been a distant 3rd place for backcountry riding. Cat and Poo have been swapping for first place.
2023 expert looks like it might get Doo back in to 2nd place!? For backcountry riding. Definitely will not beat the Matryx but it might beat the Cat. The non-expert is still a distant 3rd place.

Actually, those are opinions.A couple facts.
1. Polaris does not have more engine issues these days compared to other brands.
2. Extreme mountain riders appreciate the Cat's single rail design for manuverability. My son is a very good Polaris rider and after riding a Cat wants one. He simply can make it dance compared to the other 2 brands. For me, the weight is not acceptable.
there was a test by some magazine a few years ago that weighed the sleds dry as in fueled up buy no snow on them, then rode them all the same amount and weighed them by hanging them from a tree. Cat was lightest because of short coolers and no snow and ice on the tunnel and alpha rail no snow in the skid. before polaris finally went to painted tunnel the boards and tunnel were always chock full of lbs and lbs of ice. But there so flickable in the showroom.
Weight.. was out riding over the weekend.. dual rail sleds hold 40 pounds of snow.. would love to have the sleds wight ridden.. you can have numbers tell you whatever you want!

That will be an immensely difficult "fact" to prove.
I wonder who's brand new, "tested for years" 850 it was that over fueled so bad they basically wouldn't run? I personally saw those things laying on their sides while the owners pumped the fuel out of their cases. Or who's 850 had a "stop sell, do not ride" before they even hit the snow this year? Or who's 850 can't seem to get any fuel due to an overheated pump motor or restricted inlet? I seem to remember something about an 850 that had to be recalled due to a crank bearing failure a year or two ago, and an oil starvation issue due to some questionable assembly procedures.
But yes, other than that, they don't have any more issues than the other two brands.
All of the brands have some issues, no doubt. One of them is very well known to experience higher failure rates of engines.
Of course I don't have the data to back it up, therefore it is only my OPINION

Cat could shed some more real world weight if they opened up the boards some. Not sure why Cat doesn’t do it? Don’t even need to retool or change much to open up the inserts and leave the rails as they are. And don’t see trail guys caring if they just opened them up more
Fact- I have ridden with 90% Polaris sleds since 2013. Have never brought one back on a rope.
Do we put over 2,000 miles on them? No. By that time something new and better comes out and we upgrade. I suppose if we rode Cat I would understand the whole having no reason to upgrade thing and running them to 5k
