2023 cat. Where is it?

U will not agree with what I have to say, and that's OK. Ur opinion is not more valuable than mine and mine is not more valuable than urs. They're just opinions....
But ur statement makes it obvious that you are not familiar with all brands.

New riders don't know chit about sleds.
They have no clue as to which performs better or worse in which circumstances.

It's absolutely NOT just cat diehards that will purchase 2023 Cats.

A lot of people make their purchase decisions based solely on looks.
They will buy what they think looks the best/coolest.

Doo riders that want a better performing back country sled will look at Cat and Poo.

Poo riders that are tired of the engine issues they have had, will look at Cat.

You are obviously angry with Cat.
I don't know why and I don't care.

2003.5 - 2022, doo has been a distant 3rd place for backcountry riding. Cat and Poo have been swapping for first place.

2023 expert looks like it might get Doo back in to 2nd place!? For backcountry riding. Definitely will not beat the Matryx but it might beat the Cat. The non-expert is still a distant 3rd place.

Have to disagree. Doo wasn't 3rd in the rev chassis. I used to even spank m1000. I thought they were a heavy pile. only seen one that i would say ran good. When cat came with m sled they were underpowered but you could do things in the trees the others wouldn't but most people didn't know. They still clung to their mountain bars. It wasn't until 9 to 11 that i thought they had a legitimate sled.
New doo will be awesome. Really hard to beat polaris's offering but that is preference. The new lynx will be the bomb with its suspension and 15 wide track and shallow approach. Not a fan of 16 wide. Alpha track shows there is more to the equation.

I was a skidoo boy till the Mseries came out.
I couldn't keep up with an M7 with my 06 rev. I was jealous what I seen people doing with their little M7s.

Hill climbing, skidoo would win, but backcountry riding wasn't even close. Mseries was king. Rev was great down the trail and straight uphill climbing. Suspension was miles ahead of Cat. But those 2 points were not my concern. Backcountry riding is what I am into.

People will disagree with me on this, but the 09-11 M8 was better than the pro. 2011-2015.
I rode with mostly Pro's and the M8 was better in every aspect except super steep sidehilling. 50° +.

I'll disagree again. Had a 09m8 and 11 pro at same time. They would both do the same stuff. It was just easier on the pro. Everyone sees things differently. That is just how i seen them.

Im more with summ8.. I rode an M7 in steep terrain. It was kinda boring in comparison to the others but that was the beauty in hind sight. it ate stuff up, i thought it climbed better than the doo because it stayed flat and kept momentum pushing forward not up. I did not give it a fair shake in modern manuevers because i felt it was still too big like cats always were. I prefered the polaris IQ, even back then. But the M had more potential than i pushed. Revs were a good attempt at changing the game but kinda for newbs who only pointed them straight up for short distances. Took serious talent to sidehill. Theyve gotten so much better id say they are a contender now for sure.
I dont like seeing that much sky blue on a cat, weak move. hope theres more.

My 06 rev sidehilled like a dream. Had a mountain addiction rear suspension, cmx belt drive fabcraft tunnel, 163hp kit from slp with nitrous. Completely different than the normal rev. Called it 006. Best sled i ever built. I deserved a good sled after the 05 1000. People didn't realize how bad the doo sidehilled unless you showed them. My all-time favorite was to stop on a steep sidehill and watch them roll or go for a ride down through the trees.

i had ya pegged as around 50 years young clark :D good job hangin around old school forum instead of facespce/instagram. Hit me up if your ridin up 903 sometime (central WA)
haha! Yeah I'm still on facebook but I like the 100% snowmobile nature of snowest. Where are you based out of? I have relatives in Deer Park

Not sure how you would know how familiar I am with brands based on my previous post but okay...

New riders don't know chit about sleds.

I think the newer people to the sport are heavily persuaded by social media and Polaris are the masters at that. To say they dont know chit is incorrect. They may not know their preferences (riding style) till they buy a machine and ride other brands. But I feel you can learn a lot from doing some research.

It's absolutely NOT just cat diehards that will purchase 2023 Cats

I said that based on people I talked to on the mountain this year. Buddy of mine has been on Cat his whole life, worked at a Cat dealer for 15 years +. He got tired of new decals every year and ordered a turbo Doo and a Boost to see which one suited him better. He wasent the only person I heard this from this year.

Doo riders that want a better performing back country sled will look at Cat and Poo

This statement is a personal preference and an individual statement. Not sure where you ride but if I see 40 sleds at the cabin less than 5 are Cat and the rest is split between Poo and Doo. So based on that alone I would say the majority will disagree with you. But were also on the Cat side of these forums [emoji1787]

Poo riders that are tired of the engine issues they have had, will look at Cat

I have seen a guy change his plugs every morning he rides to keep his 25k boost on the snow. Deal with fuel pump issues, broken primary bolts and he still orders himself a 9R for next year. Polaris riders are sucker's for punishment... I stand behind the statement that Polaris has the best marketing/social media presence by far [emoji1787]

You are obviously angry with Cat. I don't know why and I don't care.

Angry? Not at all just disappointed. Like I said a 3rd manufacturer pushing to be number 1 would be awesome. New decals and colors won't get you there...

Again personal opinion, brand bias and marketing will lead you to this conclusion. I prefer to base my opinion on what I see on the hill and there isnt many Cats on it. Rental shops all rent either Doo or Poo have not come across one that rents Cat.

Its hard to get over the fact that Cat has had patent submissions for years for a boosted sled with the current chassis yet still are sitting on it. Like what problems are the engineers unable to overcome to get it to market?

The "problems" likely consist of getting the necessary budget to do what they want.

They were trying to make a belt drive before 2013 and couldn't get it to last. I assume the bean counters were they primary stopping force to that along with the current turbo.

Cat is just getting lazy now.. last year they promised bigger and better things. We basically have had a 2019 presented to us in different colors for the last 5 years. They are going to lose their customer base at this rate. Personally I don't think textron even cares..

All the corporate communications say they do care but iam a half empty guy when it comes to the corporate goings on. Timings different but they do have a history of turning snowmobile companies around and into the latest greatest? So maybe they will again? Looks like we'll all have to wait and see. At least we all agree that chevy is the greatest of all time. Lol
Here's something I've seen just recently that I thought was funny...

the pics that ive seen have been the mtn sleds maybe the trail sleds are new like how the matryx was in the the trail sled first. I'm not at all optimistic about that possibillity but it could happen.
