2013/14 Snowy Range snow conditions

About ten inches yesterday at Albany. Same up on the hill. Didn't go near Libby or north due to wind.

It's blown around a bit. Found better snow on SE through NE slopes, lower down is better too, where the wind deposited all the snow it ripped off the western slopes. It's decent out there but you have to poke around a bit. Ditch the trail and don't look back.

Snow was great just could not see. Here are some pics from below the glaciar on Saturday. Best riding will most likely be on Tuesday would be my guess. The ride back was white knuckle all the way from Laramie to past Sydney. They were closing the West bound lane Sunday afternoon and seen over 20 big rigs wrecked on the route. I was dang glad they kept East bound open..

We rode yesterday - the roads up from Denver weren't the best (fog on 287 south of the state line). On the way back the roads were rough right around Centennial, then smooth sailing from there.

Visibility on the mountain was tough in the morning, but got better as the day went on. We broke the trail through the gap and then stayed in the trees on the backside of the peaks and had a great time.

Monday Morning Snowpack report: (entire state is now above average)

Great day of riding today after we made it through the whiteout on Libby but what's new. Probably found 6-8" of fresh and the forecast is for a bunch more. Just a warning though, if you head there tomorrow the skiers are having their poker run. Granola bars will be sold out and you won't be able to get a salad or a vegan burger in any of the restaurants. :face-icon-small-coo

Good snow today in the trees when you could see. Once this storm passes should be pretty good. After dealing with the skiers, I'm glad I can say I'm a snowmobiler. I was respecting them riding down to Old Corral and in return I get cups and beer cans thrown at me and ski poles in my face. Should have had my gopro on to get it all.

Not surprised by that at all. There was a bunch of drunk hippies running around there this afternoon after their poker run. Was getting all sorts of weird looks in the bar and driving through town.

parking up top was disaster. the ski parking lot was empty and they felt the need to clog up the road with their cars so you couldn't get a truck and trailer through the turn around. it was ugly.

I think I am just going to start parking in their parking lot from now on they don't seem to use it.

Snow was great south of 130 not so much north of that.

We rode Saturday and Sunday - also found that the snow seemed to be better south of 130. Worked our way north from west of Rob Roy on Saturday and dropped into French Creek from T/Libby Flats after lunch. There were quite a few tracks in there by the afternoon.

Sunday we stayed south in the trees and drainages and found a lot of good untracked snow. Great weekend of riding - looks like more snow coming this week too!

Snow keeps piling up statewide :)
