2013/14 Snowy Range snow conditions

We left a lot of untracked, rode North and broke hood deep trail for 60 miles.

Crossed your tracks several times today, thanks for leaving nice stuff for us.:D Good snow today, started to get to mashed potatoes later in the day. Still alot of places where you can have a good time for the folks headed this way for the weekend.

Absolutely! PM me, I can go pretty much anytime. Gonna take the Redhead up tomorrow, she's been out of commision for about 3 weeks since her sled attacked her.

What is going on up there today?! We are heading out and two ambulances two sheriffs hauling *** up the mountain.

Conditions for 03/14-16 and Parking

Headed out from flatland country on Thursday 03/13 but forecast not looking good. Forecast looking pretty warm with no snow after tonight/tomorrow. Have been out several times so kind of know our way around but know this is the warmest it has been before a trip. Have a couple first timers coming so that will keep us a little closer to the beaten path than usual.

Also - we are planning to stay on the back at Ten Mile in/by Ryan Park. Some friends suggested parking at Greenrock, backpacking our stuff and riding over there vs. the drive around. Is it OK to leave vehicles overnight at Greenrock and if so, is there a specific place to park?

Thanks for any thought you might have - greatly appreciated.

There is a sign up to Greenrock that says no overnight parking. That being stated, I'm pretty sure the the customers of Mtn Meadow Cabins have been parking in the lot overnight. Normally Chris' customers park alongside the road by Snowy Mtn Lodge, but the cut up there is one lane about 8' deep. Any snow and or wind, you're stuck!

Our snowmobile club from central CO went up Friday the 10th and stayed at Medicine Bow Lodge three nights. Found lots of untracked on north end of Snowies all three days. By Sunday the popular areas were wore out, don't remember seeing that many sledders up there in a long time, pulled up to the warming hut on Sunday and found 60-80 sleds there. Most sledders came in from the east side, not much traffic on the west side. Saw the usual carnage on Widow Maker. Good riders with turbo sleds were smoking over the top of Widow Maker. It was very warm Saturday and Sunday and if they don't get more snow and cold temps riding from the west side will be tough in a couple of days (dirt) around the highway.
Be Safe, Ron

Thanks skywagon and dansyl159. Did snow last night amount to anything? Really nervous now about the trip out. Will keep an eye out for any updates that roll in this week and cross my fingers that the forecast changes.

Much appreciated.

Didn't do much here at the house last night, but it's snowing at a moderate rate right now. The weather folks are still calling for 6-12"s on the hill, we'll see. I may run up here in awhile, if I do I can give ya a better idea.

Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is the weather folks were right, 6"s this side, 8 to 14"s on the backside. It was still snowing hard when we came down. Now the bad news, I'm gonna have it all tracked up by the time you get here!:D

Well, if you leave some untracked for us, I promise I will buy you a beer Dan. I might even buy the good stuff!

Dansyl159 - thanks a bunch for the update. Great to hear there was some snow. Was thinking hard about not making the trip but think we are going to head out. If riding the summit goes bad, can always practice riding teh bar stool!!!! Very much appreciate you taking time out of your day to go check out snow conditions - must be tough. :)

Have fun tearing things up before we get there!
