2013/14 Big Horns N/S Snow Conditions

I agree, yesterday up by High Country rode in 10"+++ Fresh-as in rode up in the snow showers and enjoyed the clearing skies and untracked snow!

Seemed like it's about spring time to me today. 40 degrees on the hill today. Went west and found a few alright spots.

1993 blowdown area

Have heard of an area where a crap load of trees were blown over in 1993. Was wondering if someone could give me directions as to where this is(how far west of Bear Lodge, north or south of 14A, etc.)?

From the looks of it you won't have to find snow today. 20+ at the lodge right now! Dang I wish I had a sled!
The roads closed though

We are heading to the High Country Lodge tomorrow morning. Small group of two with full avy gear and summit XM's. The group shrunk and looking for some riding partners! Let me know if in the area... Hoping for more snow!

tree blowdown

it seems like we have tree troubles every two years lately it depends on what side ur talking about though in the last 5 years they propably have had 200 fall down in the porquepine area jst in the spring

Riding Tomorrow 3/22?

3 of us are coming up from Casper tomorrow and have never ridden the Horns. I will trade you a ride in the Sierra Madres anytime.

No snow in the horns, everyone should just stay home. :face-icon-small-ton

This was taken wednesday evening about 2 miles from bear lodge in a little secret honey hole. Snow settled a little thursday and got sticky in the afternoon but was still lots of fun. From the looks of the webcam at antelope looks to be snowing again up top. Calling for up to 6 inches by tomorrow with additional snow into sunday and monday.

Sorry Lander didnt see your post till now. If you see me on the north end tomorrow stop and say hi. White duramax and enclosed trailer, riding white rmk, silver pro, older rmk and firecat. Will report back tomorrow.

Spring in the Big Horns

Even though it's spring and starting to warm up in the lowlands, we've still got a ton of great snow and more coming. It was snowing steady all yesterday. And, though it was not a big dump, it was enough to fill in tracks and make for a great ride.

Starting Monday, March 24, weekend rates are $65 per day per person....meals included with that. And, weekday rates are $50 per person, per day with meals included.

How can you beat that deal????

Snow still good or did it setup already with the warm weather?

Definetly not set up. Went up yesterday and found a foot of fresh on the west side of the mountain. Not much new up top but once you dropped off either side of the mountain there was some dry powder! The pockets next to the trees were the best. In this picture we found a pocket by the burn area one drainage south of bone springs, not sure what it is called, but it had almost two feet of fresh. Was a fun day and better than expected. Oh and by the way didn't see a single sole once we got a couple miles from the parking lot. I love when everybody leaves the whole mountain untracked for me. :)
