In that first pic is that the boob from backside of widomaker????
We were up Saturday, found 'bout 10 untracked meadows; most hadn't seen a sled all year.
BTW Coyoteman, that you napping in the last pic?![]()
After reading lots of threads on here and seeing all the pics from the Snowies, I finally got to experience it first hand this weekend on the trip with Ultra.
Yea, the snow was pretty tracked up but we did find some decent areas and nobody got hurt so it was a good trip. I now know what the "gap" is, and yes that area really needs some snow, rocks everywhere!
I am in the Lincoln, NE area so I might be looking to go on some more trips in the future if anyone has room.
Here is a few pics:
Look who maned up and became premium!![]()
Its good to hear conditions are looking better than last year at least and with the look of more snow things may be setting up nice for the rest of the season hopefully(knock on wood). Im planning on heading out there from IA on a trip that my local dealer out of Storm Lake is organizing in March for either the Snowies or Togwotee. Ive been to the Snowies for many years and really enjoy it. I was wondering what the conditions are usually like come early March for the Snowies....good POW? good base so there are no mines? Two of my buddies that I got to join the trip will be first timers out West so I want it to hopefully be good snow for them. Also I've been hearing alot about the "back side" or the west side and hearing good POW and untouched stuff there. Also in a earlier post seen someone mention an area behind the widow maker.... Was wondering if someone could help inform me on where and how you get to these areas? I know alot of people dont like to give out their secret riding spots so if this is that type of area for some people I understand not wanting to help, but anyone that is willing to help Id appreciate it. I have a PDF file of the trail map including the Albany parking lot, Green Rock, Ryan Park, and Quealy Safety Hut.... Was wondering if thats the right map to be looking at as you guys explain trails you use to get out into those areas so I have an idea of how to get there? Also I know thats the map we always used when being out there and we went to the Widowmaker and the what we called "rollercoaster" which I believe is the gap, but cant remember about where on the map those locations are either so was hoping to get some help so I could show those guys a good time. Id really appreciate it. Also noticed a number of Iowa people on here.... anyone gonna be hitting up Winter Games in Boji as long as mother nature cooperates? And Anoyone else planning to attend that March trip with Zeke?
Let it snow!!!
Whew, alot of questions, I'll see if I can tackle a few.
First of all March is typically one of the snowiest months of the year out here. Last year was the exception, it sucked.
Secondly, your easiest to access areas with typically the best snow are between the mtn and trail N & NO. You can come in from the south trail or thru the gap, past widowmaker and the rollercoaster. Now, since it's easiest it gets tracked first.
Since you're coming out with Zeke I'm sure you folks will have a good time.
Amen... Will be out there a week from today.
Huh i thought coyote left his trailer in denver to ride in western colorado with us next trip
