2012/13 Snowy Range snow conditions

I can't report on the snow conditions for riding - I drove out yesterday and saw a LOT of sleds being trailered out of here. Today I took the kidos up and went skiing, we drove up to green rock and there was only 2 rigs in the parking lot and a skif of fresh snow.

Dan - if you want to do some practice ILS approaches and need a safety pilot, I would be more than happy to oblige! (I need to get out of the house :face-icon-small-hap )

Funny you should ask, I was thinking about exercising the plane on Friday, wanna go?
Also dinner at BT tomorrow night?

Rode this weekend and you definately need to get off the beaten paths to find good snow. It is there, but everything is getting used, so those planning trips may want to reschedule until new dumps happen.

I am not feeling well today, so I don't have the time/energy to edit the video we took - but here is a short clip of the stuff we rode in on New Years Day. We had a nasty bug go around the cabin as a special New Years gift to all of us - so we did not get in as much riding as we would have liked to during the 4 days we were up there.

Yes there were tracks in some of these areas (as I mentioned above), but still plenty of fresh snow to tear up and we had a good NYD ride. (Stock Nytro and Doo 800 w/can in the video)

gosh , that yamaha sure does sound silky smooth. Thanks for the vid

Found some fresh powder today, but did some damage getting out. It is iffy up there but if your coming from Iowa and you want to know if its worth it I would say if you want to pay to play, then yes. If your on a budget, stay home. I'm in at least $600 on bent stuff and one more day to go. We bent 3 a-arms in our group today, mine took out shock and ski as well. I put a new arm on and hoping the rest will hold threw the day. I will post picks soon! Be safe!

How is the riding out of Albany looking? I'm planning on taking a first time rider out tomorrow, deciding between the Snowies or Grand Lake...

After reading lots of threads on here and seeing all the pics from the Snowies, I finally got to experience it first hand this weekend on the trip with Ultra.

Yea, the snow was pretty tracked up but we did find some decent areas and nobody got hurt so it was a good trip. I now know what the "gap" is, and yes that area really needs some snow, rocks everywhere!

I am in the Lincoln, NE area so I might be looking to go on some more trips in the future if anyone has room.

Here is a few pics:
