2012/13 Snowy Range snow conditions

Lived in Laramie since "79" it's latest I can remember, but I've killed off a few brain cells since then:jaw:

Went up today for the maiden voyage of the season. First off, the driveshaft didn't break:D, secondly the snow was a little better than I expected. I was by myself so I didn't venture off very far(wasn't trusting the shaft THAT much), up to the glacier then back down to Lake Marie. There's enough to ride, ya just have to tip-toe around. The highway probably had 4-6"s on it, carbides just cut through though. Lake Marie probably has 2 to 3 feet at the base.
Good news is the snow was coming down pretty good the couple of hours I was up, visibility was 100 to 300 yards.
If I can grab somebody tomorrow I'll run around to the backside, should be better around there.

Hwy.130

Well they went up today to revaluate the road and snow that fell, sounds like starting tomorrow a.m. ther gonna try to reopen with plow trucks..wll keep you posted!!!!:jaw::jaw:

The state needs to compare traffic

I think at this point in time the State of Wyoming needs to compare the amount of car / truck traffic going over the top versus getting a good base
down for snowmobile traffic. And collecting the Dollars brought into the state
by the sport. If there is not a good base most people will stay home especially if they see the road is still open. Just my thoughts. RickM

Craig you can tell the boys at Wydot that there's NFW they're going to be able to plow the road open. I went around back today and from the s-curves below Libby Flats all the way around back it's anywhere from 1 to 3ft deep on the road. YEA
From Marie on were in a foot and a half to 3 feet of powder and heading north out of HQ park it's probably closer to 4 to 5ft in the trees heading up to Queally. Definitely ridable but LOTS of things to hit yet.
This pic was taken where the Queally hut is normally at.

Well boys here's the skinny on the road situation, they went up this a.m. said wind blowing to hard to see much,if it slows down a bit they will go up tomorrow, possibly taking up 1 or 2 of the rotary blowers to open the road, don't see how they can justify it since the Gov. wants to cut 8% overall out of the next fiscal years budget...let it keep snowing and blowing till June!!!!!!!!! Sorry for not so great news!!

Also thanks Dan! Great Pic...can't tell them tools squat!!!!they didn't believe me 2 winters ago how much was up there, when they decided to open the road
