2012/13 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Thanks for all your updates on the west side of the mountain smilyncor. But I can't help but wonder why the east side lodges, at least one of them, doesn't get on here and give their reports. If you go to the Bear Lodge site to look at the web cam most of the time it is 2 or 3 days old. No reason it couldn't be set up for at least a morning and afternoon shot daily. Come on Bear Lodge Resorts, wake up!!!!!

Anyone know of a place that sells avy packs close to the horns? We're on our way out and my wife just called to tell me my ABS pack along with beacon, probe and shovel are sitting in my living room.

snow....

1/2 an inch an hour the last 2 hours, so far...looks like it will be a good storm today and tonight....Everyone just checked out so we have plenty of rooms and cabins available all week. The guests coming in tomorrow will have a blast on all that new snow we're getting. Still don't understand why we are sitting so empty when all this snow is up here...oh well....110 people during lunch hours yesterday...thinking it will be slower today with all this snow coming down.

Snow update

Well, it was off and on today...now it has been on since 1pm. White out conditions..snow and wind. 7 inches since 1pm. Still coming down hard. Mtn. road from Lovell is treacherous and probably won't be plowed till tuesday. Probably have to sled from 5 springs campground or just above there to get here. Good news is I just got 2 new snowblowers so I'll be able to make the place look "groomed" tomorrow. I am test riding a sled on tuesday, so this is a good week.

New used sled....

Hey all, thanks for all the info on used sleds...Bought one tonight...2009 M8 153" with 900 miles on it. Took it for a ride tonight and man what a difference from the lodge sled (2003 Polaris classic 600 136") Now I can really run with the big dogs...

Sunny day... 8 inches total from last nights storm....remember to ride side by side on the trails and not just single file...it helps the groomer maintain the trails....

Last night here at bearlodge. Found great riding in the past 3 days, especially today after last nights storm. Fresh, chest deep, untouched powder off trail by freeze out point. Meadows off of bucking mule falls by high country was great too. Clipped a few rocks and stumps but no damage thankfully. Be careful. But what a trip! Will post a few pics when I get home. Happy sledding!

Be very careful doing this. It's a good way to get someone hurt or killed. Trails should be treated like highways.

Corey, I'm thankful for your updates and for your running high country but I have to disagree and say side by side is terrible advice.

Great plan if you want to kill somebody.

OK..... so.... I can imagine some folks would take this literally but common sense would say if you are on a wide open trail...can see straight ahead for miles(not on curves and blind corners)...in/on fresh powder...then you can safely ride staggered behind each other so that you are not creating a single track in the middle of the 12' wide trail, which would make it easier for the groomer to keep trails nicely groomed. If a snowmobiler does not know the rules of the trail and takes me literally then yes, they will get killed. That was not or is not the intention of my suggestion.

I'll keep the updates coming.
