i hate to tell everyone where all the snow is but after seeing those pics i feel sorry for you guys who went up 14a. the best snow by far right now is south and west of bear lodge. yes you can ride from the lodge. i was up both Saturday and Sunday only made it about 6 miles south the west and burned up two tanks full of gas. it is by far the best early snow i have seen in a long time and i have been riding a very long time.lol ill see about getting pics later they are on my sons camera

We went and did some elk hunting up by hunt mountain/ bald mountain sat, sun and mon. Good snow no base. We went up by granit pass on monday to see how the corinces where. I would have to say there is more snow up by baldy. No pics only of a few elk. I'm not sure why you would drive from Bear when you can trailer to baldy.

You must have found something rare cause we ran into three guys who rode over from bear lodge and said lovell side had 2 feet more. But I love sending everyone over to bear lodge to fight over the little snow. that leaves all the deep good riding for us on the lovell side. :face-icon-small-win

bad news for everyone if you think you will find snow around the lodge you will be heart broke. you will have to go south then west didnt mean to miss lead anyone. trust me for you non believers i have been spending the cash on fuel to go west to baldy until this last weekend .and i will not be doing it again until it snows north and west. just check the snotel there is more at shell then baldy . any way this is just my observation ride where u want . and enjoy p.s all us mtn riders know the snow conditions can change very fast from one draw top the next it can snow 12 inches more just canyons over.

Nice pics looks like there was plenty of pow. Cant wait for the next storm, ill be doing my snow dance till then!

Not that you guys need to give up your secret spots but where would be the best place to unload/stay, I have only ever rode out of bear lodge, Is the lovell side further west?? Do you drive up to bear or do you go a different way- thinkin of headin out that way thanks.

I would either stay at bear and ride from there or trailer to granite pass and ride from there... i think most places will be pretty similar in the amount of snow around that area

Nice pics and vids dmaxd, looks like you are getting some good break in miles on the new pros! What area did you ride? trying to compare the snow where we rode to where you were

I think 14A is now closed. We drove back from duck hunting last night and the gate was down on lovell side. Drove to lovell and the sign that says 14A closed ahead was down and light was flashing. Not sure why they closed it now. Thought they would wait till the end of the month when the elk area closed.

If your coming from minnesota your best bet is probably bear lodge it is on the east side of the mountain if you want to ride the lovell side you would want to come down through billings and stay at high country

I would stay at one of the three lodges on the mtn. bear lodge elk view or arrowhead . if you insist on riding the lovell side it would be much easier to ride the trail from bear lodge rather then driving around the mtn through billings. that would add about 3 plus hours to your drive. its only about a half hour ride from bear on your sled. ps if you do want to drive to lovell it would be faster to go up 14 and back down through shell over to greybull the across to lovell
