2011/12 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Supposed to be in the 60's in Sheridan on MondayThe 5th. 47 on the horns on Sunday

just got back from horns. snow set up in the open areas. BE CAREFULL ON TRAIL BETWEEN BEAR AND ELKVIEW! Our group was headed north from elk view and in poor visability hit that huge hole/pile of ice and snow the groomer went around at the crest of the hill. I thought I heard someone got hurt there a few weeks ago cant belive the groomer just goes around it and doesnt mark it or knock it down some........ The guy that hit it in our group flew 20-30 ft lucky he is young he went for a heck of a ride.

Rode saturday afternoon, sunday, and monday. It was my first time in the big horns and it was amazing!
One noobie error we did make was going north on H Saturday afternoon. It was super windy and later in the evening it got dark fast and visibility dropped to almost nothing once we got up by little bald mountain. I got pretty concerned and so we just turned around and headed back the way we came. I have helmet cam footage of how it went from being good conditions with little snow, to windy with great snow, to a little windier and even better snow, to little visibility, lots of wind, and BIG drifts. We never even got off the trail as a matter of fact.

Picture looks like radar hill by medince wheel turn. It is awesome up there right now. Dumped a foot friday night though saturday morning. Visiablity was really bad by bald mountain about 5: am

just gonna point out, I went up that way sunday and it was windblown and all the snow was hard. the best snow I found by far was in the southern part in the trees. It was hella deeeeep!

Went up today (wed) just up red grade road snow wasn't to bad we played in the trees and got stuck a few times, it does sound like its going to get really warm this weekend
