2011/12 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

Snowing on the west side of the mountain. I haven't rode the horns for three weeks (work cramps my style) now thinking its time to get up again. Have enjoyed everyones pics. some new snow and miles on the sled will be great to prep before my cooke trip.

Same here treehunter i like seeing everyones pictures especially when they are stuck! Heading up tomorrow to see what this storm left us. Says up to about 7" for the rest of the day and tonight. Hope that comes true would make for a lot of fun.

Coming up thursday night with 2 or 3 other guys and riding friday-sunday. Anyone wanna meet up?

If they get some decent snow we might make a run for it on Thrusday also:face-icon-small-hap X fire I will let ya know!! Hey Beef you got your sled back together yet???

Haha revguy you actually been up to check it out? Been up saturday and sunday and i bet it snowed a foot in some spots we went to. Will post some pics up soon. Best riding i have had all year, still pretty scarce in some spots but there is good riding to be had.

thank god! I hope it keeps getting better, my only good ride this year is about march 5th and I would love if it was actually deep for once! I really want to get into more difficult riding(I typically ride the black hills) and at this point I would love to see a good 2 feet of fresh with a good base! (The best snow I've ever rode was 3ft of fresh on almost 0 base, at it was the year I just bought my first longtrack mountain sled so I had no idea wth I was doing yet lol). I can't flippin' wait to ride in the mountains!

In my opinion the base is getting better after every snow. As far as getting fresh snow when you are here that is up to the snow gods:angel:, but i sure wouldnt object. Its not like last year where you could ride everywhere with almost no worries, got to kind of pick your spots this year.

Yeah, it seems like it. Which is quite sad, because I now can only ride on long breaks(christmas, spring break, and I'm hopfully gonna ride prez break) and now the snow is chitty -.-
I don't need much, just enough to get stuck!(which isn't much, I ride a 600 phaha). It just sucks always riding packed down snow, the handling on the sled sucks then and there is 0 carveablility...

Getting better, found plenty of deep pow.

Well rode saturday, sunday and today. Saturday went north and found great snow, i would guess about a foot of new in some places. Got to ride with Ryan-41 and that was a good time. Sunday went south and got snowed on for a couple hours but ended up towing a sled out so kinda a bust day. Went up today and rode south again and got into some awesome spots. Started snowing about 11 or so and was still snowing up top when we left i would guess 2-4" fell today while we were there (left about 3 or so) but it was so foggy too that we could barely see. It was barely snowing at bear when we left so that tells me its getting better up top. Didnt take many pictures just a few on saturday, but it is worth going for sure. Looked today and i have already put about 640 miles on my sled this year!
