2010/11 Snow conditions Snowy Range

Rode Friday, Saturday, and Sunday found good places to play all 3 days. Sundays snow started out pretty good and ended up sticky.

Rockdog and I got stabbed by trees and a buddy went over a bank and landed hard on the frozen tundra near the gap, took out a few ribs.

Snow was great so it made the pain fade away quickly, that and the scotch.

rode on saturday-monday
snow was awesome on sunday after it snowed last saturday night.
my friend in my group broke his PTO on his vertical escape last sunday. Also, another one hit the tree, broke his whole left trailing arm, rods, shock, and ski.
will post few pictures later.
had super fun up there this weekend

We were out Mar 6 to 10 had great riding especially on the 9th 2.5 to 3 feet of powder until I dropped my RMK into a 10 foot deep hole, 2 feet of creek and 8 feet of snow. Blowing and snowing just didn't see the hole until I was in the bottom of it. Bent the bumper so taped the gap between the hood and belly pan and rode it the next day. We saw the groomer twice also, both times in the Albany parking lot. Could use some grooming on the trail into Albany and Greenrock. We were told they groom Thurs and Friday!!!

polrmk, we were out there Feb 27-Mar 4 - saw the groomer Tue (north), Thur (by Albany) and early Sat am (as we were packing up to go).
The trail was torn up exactly the same before and after they went through. :face-icon-small-fro

togwotee9, have you seen Newmy1 back out there this week?

Backcountry Avalanche Forecast for Front Range

Issued: 03/18/2011 5:33 AM by Scott Toepfer

Highlights
The northern portion of the zone did quite well with the exiting storm. Snowfall amounts were around 20" near Cameron Pass, 7" near Winter Park, and closer to 5" at Berthoud Pass. This means the avalanche danger will be higher towards the northern end of the zone then the southern. Our danger ratings will reflect that. Any sunshine today will spark some wet slide activity too.

Avalanche Danger
The avalanche danger for the Front Range zone is CONSIDERABLE (Level 3) on all aspects and elevations
. The danger is a bit less along the southern end of the zone. Backcountry travelers can expect to trigger slabs today. It will be easy to trigger wet loose avalanches on steep slopes as sunshine returns and the new snow begins to melt. .

Ended up leaving for home a day early after 50+ deg temps and stuck vehicles in all the lots on wed 3/16, we woke up to 4"+ and heavy snow on 3/17 Thurs morning at Albany as we were leaving, curious how much fell up top, and how the riding would of been had we stayed?

Anyone hear of any bad wrecks climbing the hill to the left of Lake Marie on Wed 3/16? We saw some tracks that went up and turned into the bare rocks on the way down, couldnt have been a pretty outcome!:face-icon-small-sad

did it look something like this? only took, what, an hour to get you out?! :face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-win

Yeah North Star that is exactly it. They must have taken good care of your truck while we were out. It sounds like we hit a good week to be out there, 50 deg temps since we left.

Any one riding the snowies tomorrow (sunday)? Wanting to get out but riding partner (wife) thinks she would rather go shopping.
