2010/11 Snow conditions Snowy Range

Turbo-T's not kidding 'bout the wind, visibility on this side was virtually non-existent at times yesterday. Bad enough that a couple of groups never made it in. Heading out this morn to look for 'em.
I was guessing about a foot or so on the back when I was there noonish or so.

You need a cheerleader too:cheer2: or do I need to come put a SpongeBob bandaid on your boo boo :face-icon-small-ton

Just cheering on DP for offering the help. :focus:

I would laugh, but I thought I had a seriously injured snowmobile partner!! NO BUENO, Will post video later

Hope they got everyone off the mountain safely. Sounds like an incredibly bad situation. Maybe someone was lucky enough to stumble on one of Rev Barons safety kits. Odds are against it, but I know I'll be keeping those coordinates handy just in case.

How much snow did you end up getting? What are conditions like. We're leaving this afternoon and we'll be riding tomorrow. If you havn't found everyone by then we will surely be willing to help.

If you ride out of Albany you'd better make sure you have ice scratchers and a shovel to throw snow into you track every so often. Open areas are wind-blown and set up pretty hard.......

It sounds like a good sized winter storm is heading for the Snowies. Now I wonder about getting over the pass between Cheyenne and Laramie tomorrow night. What's the alternate route if it's closed?

Unfortunately most of the time those that are lost don't carry a GPS or radio. I'm glad they were all found and thankful for those of you that take the time and energy to search for them.

I hope that everyone spreads the word to those uninformed about the importance in safety equipment when riding in the mountians.

Perhaps I could get the lodges to post on their maps/walls the locations of my safety kits and also get them posted inside the warming huts.

Again, hats off to those that help.

Heading out tomorrow me and three others hope we hit it right we are staying at the Rendezvous lodge first time staying on that side herd that a good storm is coming on saturday :face-icon-small-hap

We are staying at Winter Creek Condos and rode out to Greenrock in hopes of making it to Widowmaker. We got close but the snow and wind kicked in and we got out. Lots of powder up top, we found alot of "play areas" but wanted to get down before condtions got worse. Wishing for a sunny day before Sunday.... think we are out of luck. Gonna try off trail P tomorrow. Snowing now....

Upper gate is closed on the Saratoga side, DOT says its for safety; not enough room.

There was about 15" at the lower lot today.

I just hope to see the Widowmaker! First time here and everyday we have been here we have not yet been able to see it. Today is our last day and forecast does not look good.

Snow was absolutely sick today. Will post some pics later!
Easily 2-3 ft every where we went. Widow was not to be seen today sorry.
Wind was blowing up high with low visibility on Libby Flats.

We rode the topside 1st day but wind and snow chased us out. So the last two days we stayed down and played off Trail P. EPIC snow... over your hood in your face right down trail P. No one had touched it. HIGHLY suggest this ride, you WONT be disappointed. No short tracks, you wont make it. Will post photos and videos Monday. It's a workout, but now I can honestly say I have experienced what they ride in in the sled movies. UNBELIEVABLE!
