Not sure how your dealer deals with it, but my dealer told me the only can I can run without voiding my warranty is an SLP. He would sell me anything but engine wouldn't be covered by warranty on anything but SLP.

So with a tether, what would be any other draw back? You'd have to mess up really bad to do anything just because of 4 o'clock throttle position, it's just opposite of where the thumb is now... I've rolled it many times that way and it doesn't hit the throttle. I guess the throttle could hit a tree or something, but at that point I think my sled would be f------ regardless.

If you've ever rode through tight trees and have had tree branches wack your hands and the bars, that would be a really bad thing to happen on your setup. Also, thinking you'll have time to shut off the key before something happens is not a good assumption in my opinion. If you were running handguards it might be a different story.

But your country is awsome & like you said...winter+sled=vunderbah!

picked my D8 163 Tuesday with a forklift put it on the trailer and took it to the shop. Yanked the motor tore it town and boxed up a couple items and sent them to Mr. Struthers.

EIGHT SIX OOOOOOO Baby! BRaaaAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAp..you lucky lucky man!

RMK guy from Sweden..you could have had this one all pimped to the hilt for around $18,000ish. (of course getting it there and in..might be a slight upcharge:D)

Our customers from Norway just fly over here and ride em..the trick is getting them home!

09 Polaris IQ RMK RAW
Carl's Performance 800cc ported twin piper
Carl's Cycle clutching
HOLZ racing products 09 ALPHA-X SKID with Fox EVOL
HOLZ racing products CM 09 complete front suspension with Fox EVOL
HOLZ 09 rolled chain case kit
choice of track
Better Boards
custom venting
RSI rider control package
SLP Powder Pro skis with Carl's Cycles cut-away

Also handgaurd guys we tried a couple of versions on the 09 Polaris...here is an example from RSI. The PowerMad ones have a plastic mount that is floppy and flexible so that it won't break off. Not my preference as it was just a little too plastic looking and acting. These seem a bunch better. The stocker bars on the non dragon version don't offer much room. Aftermarket bars help a bunch...but the factory controls are awefully large. RSI says they are also working on a cool billet throttle body that should clean things up. Anyway I like the feel of their riser and bar assembly over the stocker.

expensive yes , but the aftermarket "gadget" i take from the states and i am grateful for that . almost half the price :D

Fox Float 2

Stopped at Carl's today & picked up the front ski shocks, the new Fox Float 2. The new design is softer riding in the stutter bumps while retaining the great ride in the big bumps.
I modified my A Arm protectors to work on the 09 sled. The new sway bar requires some cutting on the top piece. These should work better on the 09's since the belly pan is gone...trapped snow on top of the protector in wet snow conditions on 08's.

Better Boards

Picked up a pair of Black Better Boards from Carl's today. Pic's are the boards just laying on the running board. Hope to install these over the weekend. First class looking except for the rivets. (Need some 3/16 steel in Black.)

Do those A-arm protectors collect as much snow as it looks like they would?

In dry powder-not bad but in wet heavy snow yes. But......they add flotation in the powder too so it's something of a trade off. I'm guessing that they will work better this year because of the open design of the belly pan.

Ron. Any updated pics of your sled???? I am still 4 weeks out from going up there to get mine:(

Maybe in a week or two AO.....still have parts strewn all over the shop. Just got the reeds, milled head, waiting on porting, SLP Powder Valves. No winter in ID yet, mid 80's, sun, summer hangin on.
Maybe Holz will start kicking out some of the new suspensions now that Fox is shipping Floats.

Engine Compression

Brought home a milled head from Carl's & installed it today. Since Polaris sells the 8's at sea level there should be justification for an increase at higher elevation. Stock my compression was 120 (cold engine) on an old piece of equipment I've used for years. I use it as a guide, don't have a clue how accurate it reads-the edge 8's ran 5-10 higher. After installing the head compression jumped to 138 an increase of 15%. Readings were taken at 2800 feet, 78 degrees.
Just a couple of notes and pic's for anyone that may do the same. I found a slick way to drain the antifreeze. Used a bucket and made a funnel out of a kitchen garbage bag. tied each corner at the top & put the bottom in the bucket. Removed the large hose on the bottom of the burp tank-didn't lose a drop of antifreeze. When putting Antfrz back in there's a vent on top of the thermostat bracket to let air out of the cyclinder.

Simple to remove & reinstall the head. Careful with the deto sensor mounted under the rear of the head. Remove the hose on the right rear & remove the rear center fitting that encloses the thermostat so that you can reach the head bolt it hides. Remove the temp sensor at the center right rear of the head. Remove all the bolts so that you can slide the head back & then up. (The plug wires stop it from being lifted straight up)
The head bolts should be loosened gradually a half to full turn to even pressure as torque is released. To reinstall torque the head bolts back at 20-22 & bolts should be torqued in a pattern from inside to outside in a crossing pattern. Use 3 steps to torque. First torque to 7/8 #'s, second to 15#'s & the third pass set final torque at no more than 22#'s.
When the head is off swab out any antifrz drops, change the fittings, sp plugs, swap the o rings & outer gasket and put it back together. It's a good idea to start the sled to remove any moisture.

Rivets for Better Boards

As I mentioned earlier, I don't care for the silver steel rivets with the black Better Boards. Locally black steel rivets were only available in large quantity special orders. Checked with Carl's & found that Polaris supplies two balck steel rivets for use in belly pan's. The large head rivets are a true black, the small head have a more bronze color. The bag has the Polaris PN for the small head rivet.
