Hand guards-I'm waiting for our annual show this weekend to decide but Polaris has some in red, black or white that mount to the angled part of the handlebar. See page 114 of Apparel & accessories.

Removing the foam from the hood sucks! Concerning heat shielding, I used this special stuff through my racing contacts. The gold with stands up to 700 and there is some silver that goes to 1200 degrees. This is the exact same stuff used by all the Nascar, Indy Cars, ALMS teams.

Lance from HMS is setup as a dealer for it and is working on having the material pre cut for the sleds bellypan area and hood. Just pm HMS if interested.

What a nice job. Anyone adding twins needs that treatment for sure. I'm done with mine but will keep this info for next time.

Clutch Update

Spent some time this evening with my P85 drive clutch. Here are the measurements-checked & rechecked alcohol free:

Belt side clearance-.050 vs spec of .005-.035. Will remove spider & shim to .010. My 115 belt measured approx. 1.47 very close to spec of 1.46. (Measured a new 080 belt at 1.433 vs spec of 1.438) Really hard to say that my measurements are 100% accurate anyway.

Weight side clearances were as much as I've seen in years... .017 to .021. I have room to add the comet shims to the thrust side of the weight now...usually not room for several hundred miles.

Button to tower clearances are the best I've ever recorded on a new clutch... .002, .002 & .003. Any closer & it might hang up when warm.

Pic of clutch with comet washer on thrust side of weight.

Pic of my titanium clutch bolts purchased years ago-big waste of money-lose 2 oz of rotating mass. Also a pic of the stock drive clutch spring 140/330 and one available from Team 150/340. Available from dealers through Western Pwr Spts or direct from Team. The stiffer spring adds a few R's if you need them but you "almost" have to pull the clutch on the new sleds to change springs.

i have a set of sportechs off of my old sled that i wanted to use..wonder if the polaris mounts would work on them??

Am I the only one that flips the thumb throttle around to make it a 1 or 2 finger throttle??? So much less stress on the area under the thumb when standing up... mine is at like 4 or 5 o'clock when looking at it from the side. I've done this for a couple years now and really like it better. Have to zip tie the kill switch though or your leg will hit it and shut the machine off at times you just don't need that lol. I figure I have a good enough hand to grab the key to turn it off if I ever get into a sticky situation.

I wouldn't be caught dead in that situation without a tether. my .02

So with a tether, what would be any other draw back? You'd have to mess up really bad to do anything just because of 4 o'clock throttle position, it's just opposite of where the thumb is now... I've rolled it many times that way and it doesn't hit the throttle. I guess the throttle could hit a tree or something, but at that point I think my sled would be f------ regardless.
