2009/10 Snowy Range snow conditions

The front side from Green Rock is still thin but not bad. We got in the trees on the front side and it was good. Still have to pick your way around down logs. The back side was outstanding. We rode in untouched snow all day until we got to the Widow Maker. We saw where there was a slide on Sugarloaf. It had not happened long before we got there around 2:45pm. This is a popular climbing hill for many, be VERY CAREFULL. Pictures 12 - 15 are of the slide. I looked like it was from 4' to 6' in depth.

If anyone is concerned about making a long trip, don't be. It will be well worth it.

It sure will!!! Snow is awesome guys go have fun!!! We were in stuff so deep the other day, you could very easily of gotten stuck and into trouble, carefull of the white conditions if it's windy though 8 people have gotten lost up there in the past 2 weeks and search and rescue has been very busy already. None of the guys we ran into had gps's and only one guy had a spot. Play it safe and wear your beacons!!! And Happy Holidays to all!!!

A good friend. I didnt think he had any of them dan. Hope he got them all ready for us, cause we havent seen them since last march... see ya in 2 days....14 of us coming out it wont be good

Stopped by Pelzer's last night, he was working on his. Yours and Nates were next, but the beer was flowing good. Don't know if he made it to yours? LOL!

Thanks Riley and OCD for the pics of Sugarloaf. As Happyjack posted the avy report, conditions are ripe with all the windloading on the east and ne facing slopes. Please everyone be very careful!

Lol, beer always helps when you're working on something.
"Did you tighten the motor mount bolts?"
" Uh, not sure. Hey could ya toss me another beer."

Taking a trip Jan. 1st and supposed to be going to Bear lodge. Would it be a wise decision to go to the snowies instead looking at the pictures of there and hearing the reports of Bear? Only bad thing is I am not firmiliar with were to go in the snowies what are your opinions?

In my opinion I have been to both and the snowies are hands down better that the horns, better snow and steeper stuff to climb if you are into climbing just my .02.

It sounded alot like that. Also had the occational
"Where does that go?"
" I don't know doesn't look that important"
"Ah, you don't need it. Just more weight"
The bad thing about it was, it was your sled he was working on. Steve and Nate's were next.
