08 XP 163...best mountain sled EVER built bar none!!!

wow this is better than most of the old yammi bashing posts.my opinion on the xp is i dont care i like what i ride already good enough for me.:D:D:beer;:beer;

gotta back up the thread starter here, if one deals with the issues of a first year sled... for mine it has been clutching, warmers, belts, drivshaft, all taken care of the first month, the xps will dominate most all others, other than the turboed or supercharged heavy weights you will be fighting for top honors... and soon you will see many xp turbos out there to rectify that problem as well

hell i find the m1000s not really a challenge anymore, and seen a few xp stockers with good riding skills work them...

we have been out also against the dragon 700, worked ok but not like the xp... i personally drove one up a hill and was never so quick to give back, very unstable machine that is 40 some pounds heavier

as for the nytro, what a joke:D:D, if you are not into turboing it do not even waste your time looking, as once turboed they do ok, but the xp would as well

I rode in Revy with 5 XP's, 4 163's 1 154" 2 dragon 800's, 2 m1000's, 2 07 rev's 1 modded up m8 and a MCX Nytro

The dragon 800's VERY impressed, certainly made EVERY one of those XP's look silly, best stocker 800 by a mile, Polaris has done a great job on the new dragon 8's, this comming from a guy who last year would have bought any other brand other than a polaris!
My m1000 sno pro stock, properly clutched, schooled all of them handily like it should.
Doo needs to do some work on those XP's, no doubt about it, spent a few days trading back and fourth with the doo boys, power feels good, vibrated like a 900 Poo, side hilled like a tank (light switch is a good comparo, pull to hard falls right over).
the M chassis and the dragon chassis feel very similar, cant beat them.
The turbo nytro with the MCX couldnt beat anyone, lol ran like a stocker, certainly something wrong with it.

The M8 and the M1000 were top dogs.....the M8 had a head...pipe...etc... ran REAL good.

the weekend went real well only one belt and one shaft (tow job) for the XP's
as for everyone else, even the Doo guys were not happy.

Now before all you die hard Doo guys get your panties in a knot, this is an opinion and its mine, I checked a 163" XP last spring and got my money back when I found out it was carbed, bought the trusty 1000, they need to spend some time on the clutching and throw in SDI before I would ever consider one.
As for being the best climbers out there? someone prove me wrong! Dragons ate em up good!

nothing beats the old Synergy powered Apex though! lol

I might believe a modded 1000 beating the xp but definatly not the dragon. They are close and thats it. Power is more broad on the d8 but does not feel like more. As for the m8, I havent seen one beat an m7, let alone an xp.

Chaz

I don't know about you guys but i hear garbage! Allot of it. For hearing the great things about the Xp's I think we all are now dumber for thinking about believing them.

i really disagree with the 08 iq raw chassis being unstable. after riding that chassis for 350 miles and then going back to the rev i realized how terrible revs handle in the powder. the xp's will usually beat me in a hill climbing contest.. when they're not changing belts. just have to figure out if you want to ride or wrench. and yes i am an extremely bitter 07 800r owner.

I'm a member of the 07 800r club & agree 100%. It's like a cult with Doo sales bull$hit being the mantra & "hype" over all reality. Love having a sled that works well & one that works every ride. The Doo creed "all sleds have their problems".

I have A XP 154 and have liked this sled by far more than any sled Ive ever had. The handling, sidehilling, boondocking and overall pull that this sled has is great.. With that said, all of you that are having so many problems need to go to a reputable dealer who knows how to set these things up.. I have 500 miles on 1 blown belt {stock belt} recently recieved one of the 377's and Have around 300 miles on it and looks like new! No vents,no clutching, all bone stock except a HPS can.. This sled rocks!!!!

Yeah this seems to be the norm around where i've ridden 2.the m8 is pretty lackin in it's own form, standing next to the m7.maybe dealer setup's or so, but the few that i've seen dont cut it.

Ride with lots of rev's ,they all say the same thing none are sold on the performance , mostly in the steep and deep , we ride with a few they are not happy.

currently riding an 06 rev 800X 159. love it. If I get high marked by a an 08 XP I'll buy one, hasn't happened yet. show me some go!

I ride a 163 XP. It handles great. It is for sale. I don't think that this sled is baddest out of the box sled ever produced by Ski Doo. I have had 5 revs. The 2006 159 was by far the best pull and go sled. I doubt the new xp could even high mark the 2006 rev. Lighter, yeah. Fun to throw around, oh yeah. Climb out of a hole in 2+ feet of fresh powder snow. No way. Find China first. Your trench will get you a darn good start to a snow cave. The problem is the alternatives aren't very good either. Looks like my money is going to a turbo apex or a M1000. I don't want to just track poach anymore. Brand loyalty only goes so far.

What's up with that?

Is your track on backwards? Not that a M-1000 would be a bad choice, but something sounds wrong with the XP.

like high time said..somethings wrong with your sled! i had an 06 159..and it was the best sled i've ever had too! but my 163 XP amazes me how it does in the real deep pow..and surpasses my 06!

.....or is this an excuse to get rid of it cause you mounted a turbo yammi?:o

.

After spending top dollar and adding all the extras I would rather ride the XP for handling and how light it is. Something is probably wrong with it. What? I don't know. Clutching? Absolutely! 3 belts first 125 miles. I have quick clickers on it and adjust all the time to try and keep the RPMs in the 8100-8300. Still doesn't seem to climb or float like the Revs. I just wish it would pull on top of the snow better. Climbing in deep powder was a joke. Who do I take it to in southwest Idaho to help with set up? It has not been re-geared because they have been sold out of gears. The dealer here doesn't seem to care how it runs. Is there anyone in Southwest Idaho who can help make me a believer in the XP by helping me to get this trencher working? I know some cat guys who know their stuff and know how to make a M1000 work. That is why I am considering the jump.

The turbo apex is more of a next year project (buy when they are cheap, summer) that is getting moved up because I do know how to make this sled work like it should.

skidoo xp

I am going to Togwotee in a couple weeks and I called to rent an xp just for one day to see If I wanted to switch from Polaris to Skidoo and they told me they could not guarantee me a sled because they are having problems with them, I would say they might have issues.

Hmm, they don't even rent XP's:eek:
