08 Tundra 5.7 ????

I dunno, I've put over 64,000 km on my dodge with the 5.7 in it and empty I consistently get over 20 empty, usually closer to 22 with speeds about 110-115 km/h. When towing it's a different story. Usually pulling over 7000 lbs, speeds about 100 km/h (tow for work, not going to race around with a load and hurt my truck lol) I only get about 13 mpg. this is a quad cab deal, great rig so far.
Next one though will be the 'yota I think with the crewmax. Most of my driving is empty, but when I do need it, noce to have the extra oomph the yota seems to have over any other gasser.
G.

You must mean 20-22 KM to imperial gallons? You running a 1500 Hemi with the MDS (mulit displacement system), 2500 5.7 dodges suck fuel like no tomorrow.

LMFAO ..... this has turned into a 5 page thread and there is only two or three comments that even come close to relating to what I was asking in the first post... I am beginning to think that maybe this site has been taken over by the greenies and it is just all one big conspiracy to get the last of us who actually used to enjoy this place and share information to leave then they can turn it into a piece love and happiness site!!!! WTF is wrong with people on here?

I DO NOT CARE IF YOUR DODGE, CHEVY, FORD or CAMEL is a better truck in your opinion than what some one else is driving...

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR from people who are actually pulling with the Tundra and see how they like it....

Why is this such an impossible concept for the masses on here???

No one seams to remember "Pearl Harbor"? HMMM.

KJP

I remember Pearl Harbor and actually it made buying the Tundra a little harder. The saving grace was that, from what I read, the new Tundra is assembled in a new plant that was built in Texas; not thrilled the profits go to Japan.

Not sure how American the Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks are these days. There is some website out there that breaks down how American or foreign various cars/trucks are, I'll do a search and post.

Quite frankly, I think the domestic guys need to be a little more innovative and focus on overall reliability.

Tundra content: So far more than 15,000 reliable miles with no problems and it tows the enclosed car hauler like a champ.

My neighbor has a new trundra and we have taken it a couple times with a 4 place open trailer. It pulls it nice but you do know it's back there. Can't say anything for reliablity because it only has 15k miles on it. and when people say that they have a great trustworthy rig on anything under 75k miles i laugh. or is it not normal to run rigs up to 200 to 300k miles?

But I am suprised that you pencil came to a wash on fuel between gas and diesel. cause i am about ready to get rid of my last gas rig and get another diesel. Cause i came out to 21.4 cents a mile with diesel and 32.3 cents a mile with gas. even with diesel so much higher.

but everyone has different needs out of a truck. let us know how it is if you do get one.

I dont care if diesel is more than gas I am still going to get a diesel as soon as some one buys my gasser. I guess the tundra would be a cool truck if they ever make a diesel. I have herd rumors about it.

Yup have the MDS hemi, and 20-22 mpg (our gallon being slightly larger than a US gal at 4.5L vs. 4.0 , or about 11-12%)

Not a big fan of duallys or that nasty tan interior but it looks pretty cool. 8.0 |6 with only 300 hp? thats weird....

me niether. but its the thought that countr right?;) haha. and if i remember correctly that one wasnt really a production model at all, just a beggining idea for them.

i would also like to see the interior become a bit more durable looking than thayt if i were to buy one....

I don't want to get into the pissing match, but legally, there's no way in hell you can haul 2 sleds on a deck in a Tundra. Take a look at the payload specs on Toyota's website. Their definition of payload is "Payload = Cargo + Optional Equipment + Passengers + Tongue Weight (if towing)" The heaviest max payload listed on the 5.7L Crew Max is 1325lbs. Your average sled is going to weight 600lbs ready to ride, so you're at 1200 already, forget the weight of the deck or the driver or passengers.

Just to add, I've been taking a close look at the Toyotas. Looks like a great truck for people who are going to tow occasionally and don't need a 3/4 ton. I do for work, so this eliminated the Tundra (for me).

Last September I ordered a Tundra and was going to trade in my 2002 7.3L Ford. I was so concerned about payload and how much they are cracking down about here in BC with 1/2 tons being over capacity, I cancelled my order and bought another Ford 6.0 diesel. I sometimes have regrets when I see the Toys around town but sure do not worry now about being over capacity when I am hauling two sleds on my deck and a travel trailer behind me in my F350. If and when Toy comes out with a diesel with a heavier payload, I will be in line.

I am on my 4th Toy Tundra. I have bought a new one every year for the last 4 years. I am hear to tell you they are the best truck hands down. I pass those black smoke chuggen pigs all day long in the hills and on the flats. I pull a 35' bumper pull enclosed with 6 sleds in it, 6 guys in the cab with room to spare, 6 guys worth of gear, 2 barrels of race fuel and 30 gallons of propane for the heater. I can pull Parleys Summit at 75 and I get 25 MPG towing and 32 empty around town and 39.7 on the highway empty. I know all these numbers are a little hare for you dsl puffers but they are hand calculated!!!!

The Toyata Tundra is surprisingly quick also. The other day I lined up against one of those new Corvette thingys and I smoked him by 3 lengths to the next light. It would have been more but the tires spun for most of that city block.

You also wouldn't blv the play I get in these Toyota Tundras!!! Girls fall all over me when I drive down the road!!!! I take Playboy and Penthouse models home every night I want!!!!

These trucks are so good on maitenance I never even need to change to oil! I put 25K miles on my last truck and only put $300 worth of fuel in it. Thats all didn't rotate the tire, change the oil nothen THEY ARE THAT FREAKEN AMAZING!!!!!

There now you have it!! REAL world experience and no BS.

If all you guys don't go directly to the nearest Toyota store and pick 1 or 2 up it just shows how stupid you are!!!!

Thanks for reaffirming what everyone already new Ouraysledder .... you my friend are an azzhat! Never once looked for nor do I want justification. Believe it or not I did some checking all on my own before making my purchase and didn't rely on input from baglappers to make my decision... Tell me, is it some sort of small man/little penis envy thing you got going on? What exactly is that compels people like you to do nothing but bash on everything that anyone else has that isn't exactly like what you have? .... Since I am not getting info on my original question we might as well turn this into some sort of Dr. Phil thing.... talk to me Ouray what makes you so angry? Were you abused as a little boy? Did the nice preacher man make you sing into his little mic? Did all of the other kids call you a pillow biter ? Don't worry they were just calling a spade a spade!!!!

Nottautard, you are my hero... when I finally grow an alter, I want it to be just like you!!!! ;)

This thread is so cool , it is going to go on all summer long for sure. I know for a fact the new Tundra pulls very well. I see lots of mexican folks pulling those trailers with lawn mowers , and leaf blowers.

I would of bought the fully loaded Crew Max as soon as they came out but , i have not been four feet tall since i was 7 years old.:D

Tundra is like a F-150 towing an enclosed in the wind.

All over the road. Not heavy enough, not stiffly sprung enough etc etc

If Toy made a real Full size 3/4 ton ...........

MEXICANS IN sin city

How about a happy medium like the 1/2ton chevy with the max package that they say will get 17mpg? The truck has a heavier trans and rear end package.

KJP

I was not born yet , but i remember that day in history class. Some people think if Toyota builds that crap in the USA , all of the cash does not go straight to Japan.

You will never catch me sending a huge pile of cash to Japan.:(
