Paul Dearmans--contact info---passed to me--another e-mail going out !!

Come on guys--step up and call these people out--they are walking on your right to ride!!! and worse yet--they are locals that KNOW they should not be in there--especiall since there is a sign just before Longs pass.

paul@rentmerentals.com

Paul

Your rig was spotted up at NF TEANAWAY with pictures and the tracks from your riding group going right into the wilderness--to let you know--We the rest of the snowmobilers do not appreciatte this--trying to help the green tree huggers close more riding area to us law abiding riders is not right---Your info has been put out on 2 different sledding websites---this type of behavior is not being accepted by the other riders anymore !!!

I am one that would like to ride that area as well---but do not because it is agianst the law, plus it is going to affect more than just me--but will cause all of us to lose the right to ride the area around this wilderness --think you can get onboard?? It would be appreciatted by the rest of the riders out there.

Thanks

Paul Walser

Just sent emails to both.

C'mon guys, lets rattle their cage, let them know that we know and that we aren't going to put up with it.

I talked to a friend of mine from pretty high up in WSP, I forwarded him the information that we have combined here and he said he knows the Sheriff up in Kittitas real well and was going to forward him the information and probably contact the individuals directly about their actions.

I like being a narc :D

You cant be serious. :boink:

Not to pick on Jakey-Boy but this post here ^^ is the exact reason why land use issues should stay with their respective locales on the boards. For those of you outside of our area, this is an area that we are in the fight of our life for right now. The other side (people like the WMC) are using this exact location of wilderness intrusion and the same people that are intruding as their main reason to add a non-motorized buffer to the wilderness.

Believe me Jakey, some (most) of theses guys know the boundaries and don't care. Most of these guys are very local to the area. More so than alot of us are. Meaning 20-30 minutes unlike the hour and change for the rest of us. I recognize at least 3 of these rigs at this areas sno-parks all the time. Believe me, they are educated on the rules and areas but don't care.

I used to side with them thinking the same thing, oh we are narcing them off, things like this. Well this isn't your high school buddy getting pulled into the principals office for smoking a cigarette or egging cars.

This is one of the last partial alpine areas we have left to ride in this state.

Agreed on land issues staying in their areas. Which is the exact issue that we have here where I'm from. There is less than 10% of the local population that would vote to close these areas but its the rich "Californians" that have all of the political pull. I have no ties to those guys and am not entirely defending their actions I just hate to see infighting within the sled community. Especially just taking them straight to the sheriff. That's the problem we are all running into is there is no unity within the motorsports communities to stand up to the real bad guy which is the wack jobs that want every square acre locked up and "safe" from the horrible sleds, wheelers, bikes etc... I really doubt they are going to say look the sledders turned in one of their own for riding area A so we can let them keep area B. They want it all period. I'm glad you guys caught your culprits tho. Best of luck getting the results you want from this situation.

The FS is already aware of sledders being in Wilderness last Friday (and some of the same group at least once earlier in the season). When the sheriff gets a call on something like this, they pass it to the FS. Without clear evidence of an individual in Wilderness, they can't do anything.

A few of us have been working with the FS on the issue of Wilderness violation by snowmobile. We all know they have limited resources. They have encouraged self-policing, as it will have much more effect than their limited patrolling capabilities.

Personally, I'm stoked to see the response to this. I don't mean sledders turning other sledders in to the FS, but the fact that so many people are standing up on the right side of this issue. The only action that will help keep our riding areas open is taking responsibility for our own behavior. We are completely taking the wind out of the sails of groups like WMC. If we follow the rules, their entire argument goes out the window (not that it was a valid argument in the first place).

I would encourage everyone not to get carried away with a witch hunt. I think its awesome that these guys have been called out publicly. Everyone should know that they will get the same treatment if they are caught in Wilderness. But let's not take it too far. Pressure from within the snowmobile community is all we need.

On that note, the Cashmere/Wenatchee guys that ride the Teanaway from Scotty and Kings Creek are still hitting the Wilderness. They have a very limited parking area. I would encourage anyone who positively sees them in the Wilderness to give them the same truck and license plate treatment. The skiing community and FS is well aware of their behavior and they continue to collect photo evidence of their trespass against us. These a$$holes think they are riding in there unseen. Cmon, guys.....

This is just a first step...stop the encursions. Without that, we can't make a valid arguement about much of anything. FS doesn't have the money to staff someone to police it, all they can do is rely on the public. the only ones' that were talking were the opposition and this is a heavy tool of evidence for their cause.

I would say we are more unified in agreeing that wilderness should not be encroached by sleds and taking action to bring attention to the violators. Unless they are caught red handed there will be little that can be done legally, but public humiliation is a tool we can use to affect change in their behaviour. If they know they are being watched and being called out on it, hopefully we see a change in action. If this doesn't work, then more effort will need to be put in to find a more severe penalty.

All in an effort to simply keep what we have now. If we don't do this, then it will be gone.

I tend to agree that I don't think we should make this about turning someone in. The results I want to see are what we have already.... Names posted, guys thinking twice before they do it next time, the snowmobile community standing together and saying we can't afford to let this happen anymore.

That being said, if I'm sitting on the ridge when you pop out of Wilderness, and I know that you meant to be in there (and especially if I know you've been in there before like these guys), your picture is probably going to the FS. It's the only way we're gonna get that type of person to stop. These guys did the most possible damage to our sport; they went into a popular skiing area during the prime skiing season. They couldn't have asked for more publicity.

Okay Guys--no all this talk is great---There are e-mail addresses on here---send them e-mails--they may not be on here guys/gals---

Step up and do it!!! Talk is cheap--action says something---

If they get e-mails from everyone--it helps show the sled community is united on this !!

Get r done!!!:director:

Thanks for this info---I have sent him a e-mail as follows:

I would expect more to fly as well !! Time to call these guys to the mat !!!
With all due respect, that is a little over the top dude..... just sayin.....

How it that over the top?!?

These SOB's blatant disregard for some simple rules and borders is threatening our riding areas.
I think a little public call out and a few short, polite emails is a soft response. I'm not knocking your age, but you haven't experienced the massive difference in where we could ride 20 years ago and where we can ride now.

Believe it or not, there is a all out war being waged against snowmobilers by some very powerful, influential, deep pocketed organizations and individuals.

This almost funny that you think this is over the top---This is a very polite call out that we are expecting them to act in a legal way and not to ruin the rest of us sledders riding areas. I have left it open to them for a thinking period and response---But seeing as both of these e-mails were sent today and I have not seen a response from either one of them-----sounds like ......

"this type of behavior is not being accepted by the other riders anymore !!!"

that sounds like a Twisted Sister song. if, and i mean if, i were one of those guys it would sound like you were my father when i read that. a threat like that doesn't do much good. but i know y0u know everything since you are over 40. that letter s0unds like a 16 year old wrote it. you can do better!!!!!

Look up the definition of the words "threat" and "action". What you're seeing is action. You can leave your daddy issues out of this.... Nobody cares at this point.

............... a threat like that doesn't do much good.............. you can do better!!!!!

No, why don't you man up and show/tell us what we should do!

What have you done to help protect our areas??

  • Helped pick up litter at SnoParks & on the hill?
  • Spent your weekend hiking into back country to put up Wilderness boundary signs?
  • Contributed to SAWS, BRC or WSSA?
  • Contacted Tim Foss @ the NFS to offer whatever help you can, when needed?
  • Sent a email or confronted, in any way, someone who is threatening our areas by riding out of bounds or seen littering in our areas?
  • Attend any FS meetings on how snowmobilers can better manage and keep our areas?
  • And the list goes on.........
I'm 4 out of 6 in that small list, Most of the people who are the most active in this thread are most likely 6 out of 6. You're sparring with the guys who are out there fighting tooth and nail for YOUR sport!
My guess is that you have done none of the above and nothing at all, so stop getting your panties twisted and challenging posts and people who are doing SOMETHING, when you are doing NOTHING!
