Why is Klim so expensive?

Klim replaced my used Adrenaline boot, that only had a torn off eyelet loop, with a brand new PAIR of boots. I expected them to sew on a new loop, but was very surprised. My butt always stays dry in the freeride pants too.

Why are sleds so expensive, why is fuel so expensive, why is insurance so expensive, blah, blah blah. Just go buy some hefty bags and duct tape and make your own.

I have a pair of Klim gloves!!! What a piece of SH&T!!!!

^^^^^^^ I'll second that !!!!! I talked to the klim dealer here in Canada at different sled shows: Calgary, Edmonton and Regina about my gloves. No nothing. Attitude like "get stuffed" "we got your money now pi$$ off"

Both wife and I have full klim riding gear, when it's time to replace I will "NEVER" buy klim again. I'll wear anything else. I don't like being treated like yesterdays lunch.:(

Maybe a stupid question here but I just bought the Valdes jacket and the Freeride pants. First Klim gear for me besides the crappy gloves I bought last year.

I see that Klim is requesting that I register the clothing.
Is that required now for the warranty to be effective?

I've never heard anyone bring this up before.

I hope I'll be as impressed with the gear as everyone else here is claiming to be after ponying up over $800 for the stuff.

Ditto! Im sure you guys are tired of hearing me complain about my boots, but six friggin trips and the bottoms are TRASHED. I wasnt doing anything out of the normal with them. Just aggressive riding. Im going to take a picture of them and post them on here when i get a chance. 250 bucks for six trips!! There is a reason we pay so much for this stuff........its supposed to be high quality. I dont mind paying the price if it is worth it. The jacket and pants are. Nothing else though.

How much would it really cost them to send me a new outer boot? It would create a lot of good will and positive advertising for them. I dont even want a new set, just the outers..........or even just resole the boots. I keep hearing about Klim's awesome warranty, but I have yet to see it.

uh dude, you have to talk to corporate Klim, not the dealers. You call them up and describe the damage, how it occurred, and what the problem is. Klim then decides if its normal wear or warranty. They give you a RO number and you ship the stuff to them. Some cases they will charge you for repair others they deem warranty and replace.

Gloves hardly ever get warrantied. Unless the were coming apart at the seams. Gloves and boots take the most beating and yea they are going to wear out. I dont care who makes the glove or boot, they are going to wear out eventually. I watch way to many people kick the crap out of the running boards to remove the snow on them, then they complain that their boots are thrashed and expect that to be warrantied... :face-icon-small-dis

Because they stand behind their product.

After 4 OR 5 Years of hard use (25 days a year) my sons (Billygoat) Klim Togwotee bibs were leaking water in the seat area pretty badly. While not torn, they looked faded and worn. I sent them to Klim last week so see how would they handle their "life time" warranty. Yesterday, a brand new pair of Togwotee bibs showed up at my front door...FREE....7 day Turn around... No Questions Asked! Thats what I call customer service and beyond...thats why I buy KLIM.

Its like in school when there were always the group of kids who needed the "cool" clothes. I can buy Castle at 1/4 of the price and it keeps me warm and dry. It doesn't say Klim, but who am I out to impress??? In two years some other name will be claimed as the best. Most people make around 15$/hour after taxes & 401k. $800 for a set of klim wear on sale is equal to 53+ hours of work. That is 6+ days of work to buy Klim wear. I can think of better stuff to spend 53 hours of work pay on. Just my $0.02.

wow that tells all.

More people wear klim to look cool than what it actually does for you IMO. If you dropped $1000 of clothes.....you'll defend it!!

There are others options out there. But like the x-files, you will have to bielieve it exisits first!

The undergear from Klim is really no different from any other that wicks away moisture. The outer gear is superb. It fits great and keeps you warm and DRY. I have owned stuff from 2 other companies (not saying there is not other great stuff out there) and I come home 15 pounds heavier than when I left due to the wet cloths. I NEVER get wet in my Klim gear. Call it vanity if you want so you can sleep well at night about your decision to pigeon hole me. I know the real deal. Oh, and don't let me catch you on the hill with any mods on your sled because that would make you vain (you know, trying to look cool because your sled is louder or faster or lighter than your buddies). My question to you is why spend $10,000 on a new sled and then skimp $300-$400 on your gear that allows you to get out and enjoy it to the max.

I ain't saying NOT spend you dough or have nice clothes. I am saying you can spend or equal and get the same result.

I know it hard to bielieve. But like i said.....you know the x-files part....you gotta bielieve first!

You are already defending your purchase without even CONSIDERING all the post with comparisons. Klim isn't like a cloaking device or a Batman out fit. It is Gor-tex. You can buy it in Cabelas ect....it s the same. And it cost less there. Is Gore LESS of a product in Cabelas??? I thought Gore was the same everywhere???

Dam there's a lot of angry folks out there.

If it doesn't snow soon I'm afraid we're going to start killing each other.

And...

What about registering Klim Gear for the warranty?
Anybody actually doo it?
:D

Maybe I was seeing things but while I was reading this thread I thought I saw a post about how much Klim donates to the greenies to help close wilderness areas to motorized sports.I went back to read it and it's gone.:confused:

Well said, I have tried alot of other gear (alot of ski-doo, reima, north face, columbia, off brands, and various other ski/snowboard brands) and nothing kept me bone dry like my klim stuff, I am not saying that there is nothing out there that keeps you as dry, but with the Klim, I know its a sure thing. If I tried something else to save $100 and it didnt work, well there goes my savings!

Its like buying toilet paper, you can risk buying that new cheaper brand that will wipe your *** just the same, but do you really want to take the chance of scratching your ******* up, or having a breakthrough? Go with what you know works. Klim works for me, better than anything else I have come across, they treat their customers well, back up their product, prices are reasonable compared to other top brands, so I don't have a reason to look elsewhere for my jackets and pants.
