Why is Klim so expensive?

I spent $960 last year on a complete Klim Outfit, best money I ever spent!!! Warm, dry, and comfortable all day long on even the coldest days.

I was skeptical at first if I was just paying for the name.. after riding with it I can tell you that is clearly not the case:D

I swear by Klim gear. I switched to FXR gear for a brief period couple years ago and I'll NEVER do it again. I've had three different sets of Klim gear over the years and have been happy all three times. Only time I was disapointed, is when I bought FXR's stuff. Zipper in my coat broke, seams started coming apart in the shoulder area, bibs were bulky and my @ss would get wet in them. F#g I hated those things!! Moral of the story, you get what you pay for.:face-icon-small-win

Its like in school when there were always the group of kids who needed the "cool" clothes. I can buy Castle at 1/4 of the price and it keeps me warm and dry. It doesn't say Klim, but who am I out to impress??? In two years some other name will be claimed as the best. Most people make around 15$/hour after taxes & 401k. $800 for a set of klim wear on sale is equal to 53+ hours of work. That is 6+ days of work to buy Klim wear. I can think of better stuff to spend 53 hours of work pay on. Just my $0.02.

in my opinion klim doesnt look "cool" at all. all of their stuff is pretty plain jane looking, but im after staying dry and warm

thx you all, i will pick up a coat and bib for sure. time to cough up some $$$

Yes it is the best. But, why? Let me tell you.
You are paying for Gore-Tex. The only true waterproof and breathable membrane.
You are paying for the best warranty in the industry.
You are paying for countless hours of R&D into product development. Which is why everything performs as stated.
You are paying for quality workmanship. Each item must pass rigorous standards before it can meet both Klim and Gore-tex approval.
now to the $$$ convo.

like i said earlier is goretex some type of $$$ daimond?? the **** cant be worth that much, is it?......i dont think anyways

and the warranty....hell ive never brought back any piece of clothing ever for warranty and probably never will even if its worth $400 and usually the problem is my fault. what exactly are they warrantying(sp?)??
and we all know how warranty works.....they try and screw you any way they can.

countless hours of r&d? maybe 3 years ago, what countless hours have been put in lately? again im have no clue but they havent really changed....i dont think so anyway!

again....im not beaking klim, just wanting answers and so far soo good:beer;

but i think i'll just take the hit and spend the money(klims knows i will anyways:D)

Not to pirate the thread, but what do people consider a good deal on Klim gear? Is 10% off retail and free shipping and handling a good deal or are there better ones out there to be found? Call me a tighty, but when I am going to drop big cash on stuff like this, I like to find the best deal out there. If people have found better deals then the above mentioned deal, let us poor saps know! Thanks! As for the original thread, Klim is the best and that is why I and many others are willing to spend the cash.:D
there is one that will sell at a little deeper discount you just have to call

Thats a pretty dang good deal. Klim regulates what the dealers sell it at. No dealer is supposed to say any current year clothing online under retail. They can only sell current year clothing at 10% off at the shows. Non current product can be marked down by 15%. These are all outlined in their dealer agreement. So if you are finding 10% off and free shipping online then you have basically the best deal Klim allows.

Close to the rules Klim states that you can only advertise retail in ANY internet media, including pm's & e-mail,you can not say call for pricing, you can sell at snow shows as deep as 10% Out of your retail store you can go as deep as 15%,On non current it can be sold and advertised at any price but must be stated non current
And back to why Klim is so exspensive is because of the great lifetime warranty
Hope this clears up a few ?'s
Greg

what does the warranty cover?? factory deffects only?? or am i missing something

check out some gortex pants and coats at some place like easy rider c man . same quality as klim and it looks way better . just dont buy the really flashy stuff the quality seems to go down .

Just a quick question for ya...

Just how lifetime is a lifetime warranty good for?

Can I bring back the bibs in 5-10 years if they start leaking, I find it hard to believe that anything can last forever. What exactly does lifetime mean?

Sorry, don't mean to hi-jack the thread:beer;

Still loving my warm, dry Klim gear, just thought I would ask the question:)

im rocking klim pants this year for the first year ever. hope its worth the cash spent. caught a killer deal at a local grass drag show but still pretty steap for me. i went with an hmk jacket on steap discount as well. if it doesnt work out im going to a klim jacket next year.

to me its 50% about having a good breathable shell and 50% percent layering. good moisture wicking base, midweight fleece midlayer. never let me down even with the cheap gear i used to ride in.

What I don't get about Klim is don't they think that there are any big guys out here? I sure wish they would make TALLS!!! Until then, Cabela's guide wear xcr gore-tex rain jackets and pants make excellent riding gear a good price! I don't think Klim is any better or tougher, just a cooler name.

Dude, I'm 6'5" 225lb and Klim fits me no problem, they do have tall sizes in the pants, and I have no issue, but if the brand you are talkin works then perfect, not to pizz on your parade. Love the pants, jackets and underlayers that KLIM makes, the boots and gloves can take a leap.

I think they need to make the Valdez one size bigger, 6'4" 300#s and the 3x is a little snug over the tekvest

They do make talls....

Made the leap last year and love it. It's a lot of $$$, but so is sledding in general. After buying Klim I'll never go back. A few of my riding buddies are changing over after seeing what I bought. Tough to beat quality!!!!

I'm to cheap and for good reason. My $40 pants from a ski shop work the best out of anyone I ride with. They ain't no fancy gortex but they keep me dry, even when I stepped into a creek last year my legs were dry. No idea what makes them so water resistant, but after a day of riding only the bottom 4" or so is even wet to the touch, the rest is bone dry  2 years on them and they are flawless, the only thing I got to worry about is my buddies switching them for their expensive pants that don't work!

What makes me mad is that Klim does make good stuff but everytime you buy something Gore-Tex you are supporting those that are trying to shut down what we do. A percentage of all Gore-Tex sales goes to supporting the Sierra Club. I would rather wear a brand like HMK who supports our sport totally. Just had to shed some light on a dirty little secret. Sorry.

You must not have owned any Klim gear. I have worn fx, reimma, snowrider, and some castle clothes. I ponied up the dough a few years ago for Klim and realized what I was missing. Should have bought Klim years ago, it's worth every penny. Although I hope the more recent "made in china" tag doesn't lead to a drop in quality.
