My new pair of Tempest googles arrived today. Went with the Photochromatic Infinity lens. Really looking forward to using them. The magnets holding the lens to the frame seem way stronger than the 509 Aviator Ignite 2.0's. They also seem to seal really well with my Fly helmet, compared to either of my 509 Ignites. The lens seems to be more clear to start with than the 509 photochromatic lens. Took them outside briefly, and didn't seem to darken, but not sure how long it takes to do so (hoping I didn't end up with just a clear lens, packing slip said photochromatic). Was on the fence about ordering a yellow lens too (what i usually wear), but am hoping this photochromatic lens is good for all conditions.
I did see the Klim eFire goggles at a dealer last weekend. They seem like a very nice goggle as well. Quality seems better than the 509s, especially the cable running from the lens to the battery pack. Came down to cost and usability for me going with Tempest--not having to deal with different heat modes should be a welcome change.
