I think their prices are high, but somewhat justified. Licensed Gore-Tex stuff is never cheap because of the material used and the construction quality. Klim can justify their prices, because they have a good product, great marketing, and people PAY THOSE PRICES! That's the bottom line. If people believe that a licensed Gore-Tex product that says Klim is vastly superior to other Gore-Tex products, and they're willing to pay the high price, so be it.
I'll never say that Klim gear isn't good, but it's definitely not the only thing out there that works. I like my Togwotee bibs because they're pretty durable and I like the kneepads. My butt doesn't get wet, but my belly and chest sweat so much under the bib part that it is almost unbearable. Why don't they make the upper part out of mesh? You've got a jacket on over that. It doesn't need to be as thick as it is. I love the Adrenaline boots I've got. Compared to the clothes, the boots are much more competively priced. The narrow profile of those boots is what sold me, and they breathe pretty well. When it's really cold, those boots might be a little too thin, but I don't like to ride very long when it's really cold anyway. I've considered a Klim jacket for several years now. Whenever I try them on, they are too heavy and constricting. They look like durable material, it's just that it feels like wearing a straight jacket! I'll stick with my Gore-Tex ski jacket because it is light, just as waterproof and breathable as the Klim, and it offers unconstricted freedom of movement that Klim can not match.
I guess that the success of the company is the reason it is expensive. If people buy it at those prices, how can you fault the manufacturer? You never see Klim discounted as much as other athletic apparel, so it is obvious that they are very good at judging demand for their product and marketing it appropriately.
