Why is Klim so expensive?

I ain't saying NOT spend you dough or have nice clothes. I am saying you can spend or equal and get the same result.

I know it hard to bielieve. But like i said.....you know the x-files part....you gotta bielieve first!

You are already defending your purchase without even CONSIDERING all the post with comparisons. Klim isn't like a cloaking device or a Batman out fit. It is Gor-tex. You can buy it in Cabelas ect....it s the same. And it cost less there. Is Gore LESS of a product in Cabelas??? I thought Gore was the same everywhere???

No, it's not the same. Most of the clothing you buy at Cabelas that carries the Gore Tex tag does not use the same Gore material as Klim. Gore makes different layers of material, and only approved dealers get to use the best material they produce along with the Gore Seam Sealing System. Of course it takes a lot of money to get and maintain this approval. One of the reasons Klim costs more.

Look up Simms G4 waders another Gore approved product builder $699.00

Maybe I was seeing things but while I was reading this thread I thought I saw a post about how much Klim donates to the greenies to help close wilderness areas to motorized sports.I went back to read it and it's gone.:eek::confused:

I wonder where that rumor came from? Just for the record, it ain't so Joe.

Well said, I have tried alot of other gear (alot of ski-doo, reima, north face, columbia, off brands, and various other ski/snowboard brands) and nothing kept me bone dry like my klim stuff, I am not saying that there is nothing out there that keeps you as dry, but with the Klim, I know its a sure thing. If I tried something else to save $100 and it didnt work, well there goes my savings!

Its like buying toilet paper, you can risk buying that new cheaper brand that will wipe your *** just the same, but do you really want to take the chance of scratching your ******* up, or having a breakthrough? Go with what you know works. Klim works for me, better than anything else I have come across, they treat their customers well, back up their product, prices are reasonable compared to other top brands, so I don't have a reason to look elsewhere for my jackets and pants.

It's not Klim that I am aware of that donates money to the Sierra Club. It is Gore-Tex themselves. Whether you buy Klim, Cabela's, or any other product that uses Gore-Tex you are in a round about way supporting the Sierra club.

As the title states.......

:beer;

It's not in my opinion. I have had Klim gear for years. Upgraded to a new bib and jacket in 2005 and still have it and looks and wears like new. It don't go out of fashion, it's extreemly high quality and you truely get what you pay for.

If anyone thinks it's expensive, simply try one piece a year and in no time you will have it all and be glad you did.

klim

it is the best I have tried, however....I'm still always soaked, from sweat I guess, they do not keep me dry and my jacket and bibs are shredded from pine tree branches, so while it is not at all indestructible and does not keep me dry it is pretty good compared to others, one thing I like is that the pockets have held up while carrying spare batteries, powerbars, compasses and such weight that jostles around all day....I've don't dig the wet at all but seems that I have just come to accept it as unavoidable.

I am slightly biased, but I've never seen anything that competes with Klim gear for sledding. It may be more expensive, but it will last much longer (cheaper in the long term) and make riding much more enjoyable.

As far as Gore-Tex donating to the Sierra Club, if you looked into the suppliers of any company you would probably find that some of their suppliers support causes that are anti-snowmobile, especially in the winter outerwear industries. The people at Klim are sledheads and they support the snowmobile community 100%. Locally, I know they have always been huge supporters of the Utah Avalanche Center and clubs in the area.

Microsoft and Google are two of the Sierra Club's largest supporters, so unless you stop using your computer then unfortunately you are indirectly supporting the Sierra Club all the time.

Some of you are comparing to Cabela's and some ski companies. These companies all make great Gore-tex products! There is nothing wrong with them. There are some differences though.

With Klim they are strictly designed with snowmobiling and motorsports in mind. They will fit differently and move differently than a ski jacket. They are disigned to give you the freedom of movement while riding. Much different than hunting or skiing. You will find reinforcements in different area's of your jackets and pants as well. Zipper length and location are even though out for what we do.

One thing to understand that I don't know if anyone else has brought it up is Klim and Gore Tex are in a partnership. What that boils down to is Klim basically has the top of the line Gore Tex fabrics and before you guys go off half cocked it's true about the Gore Tex product line. Their are different levels of Gore Tex fabrics and the performance that goes with each level. I remember talking about this with some big wigs and reading about it in some trade magazine not affiliated with sleds.

If you are getting wet and you have treated it after washing like you are supposed to you need to change what you are wearing underneath. You shouldn't be sweating that much, it must mean you are over dressed for the conditions and your body. Unless you may have a medical condition that causes a lot of sweating?

I sweat just pulling the rope to start my sled... :rolleyes:

I am a FIRM believer in GorTex. It kept me warm and dry in Alot of Deployments while in the Marines. Any snowmobile gear the have GorTex working with them I will spend any amount of money on it. I have a Valdez Parka, Extreme Bibs, Klimate Glove, Inversion Glove, Klimate Boot, Revolt Jersey, Klim Balaclava, K Corp Hat, Nac Pak, and Inferno Shirt. And I am working on buying their helmet.

I wish I was sponsored by Klim;) I'll second Mean Yamaha's opinion:beer;

A bit off topic but I see that the 08 Togwotee Bib is different than the 07 with zippers on the thigh . Not sure if I want to put stuff there. It also looks like there are no zips on the bib part which I do use.:rolleyes:

I have 08' gear so I can't help you but I can add that I don't put anything in my bib pockets. All goes in my jacket or back pack.....

I was wearing mix matched ski clothing and within an hour of riding I was soaked to the bone, even though it was supposed to be water proof??

finally got Klim, and now I wouldn't buy anything less.

being dry doesn't sap your endurance so much, you ride harder longer better.

I just wear their outerwear, skip all the inner layer stuff...fleece is fleece

next on my list is TNA gloves.
