Who all have had their 800 blow?

Be careful guys, you shouldnt splice in different handwarmers because it could cause a short in the ECU making the engine run lean, which in turn causes the motor to fail...LMAO. Thats what Doo told my dealer. So my dealer argued with them and finally after almost 2 MONTHS, Doo gave me a new motor, and my sled blew up in february, so the season was pretty much over with.

The year before, I had an 05 RT that cracked a front heat exchanger, so that was in the shop for almost 3 months because Doo didnt want to warranty it, then finally, doo gave in and paid for having it welded. And that happend in february too, while I was trying to sell it.

So thats my experience with Doo's customer service, but I thank my dealer for putting up with them. And now im the owner of a Cat.

Sorry for the rant

on my 08 the engine didn't blow, but the throttle stuck wide open, which caused it to hit a tree....totalled the sled, and ski-doo does nothing....250 miles on a new sled that was totalled and there's not one person with any honesty or integrity in the whole damned organization.....i wouldn't crap in the street if they were starving to death....so ski-doo, if you don't want to honor your warranty, don't come south of the border to sell your junk

had a simular experience on an 04 summit 800. Made an awesome jump, throttle full open and didn't go back when the sled landed and I let go. got bucked off and the sled continued until a stump that leaned it over. The problem. A big piece of broken belt held the throttle butterfly wide open not letting it go back. Rider error here. When a belt blows bad, check every space where pieces could end up. The air box should not have let such a big piece thru so for that design I doo blame Skidoo design.

Had my top end go on an 05 800 Gade last season. 3500 kms. Detonation, bad gas, too light of gas, weak boots, cracked air box, anyone of these could have been the trouble giver. Up and running again with spi parts, pistons, cylinders, rings etc etc. Runs good again.
Have an 04 summit 800 too, with double the time on it and it still reads 150+ both sides. In fact Ive heard quite a few 04 riders say they've had pretty good luck with thiers. Would be nice to know what it is that makes the 04's last longer

spun crank out of phaze

spun crank out of phaze at 800 miles on sled. tried to deal with dealer H2O in Sicamous. what a JOKE. needles to say trip reuined. next time i sled there i won't even buy a spark plug from him!! H2O get F**ked

Montana Powder

1970 elan ran forever 600.00 new
1984 phazer ran forever 2600.00 new
1999rmk 700 ub 770 big bore, blew top end 3 times crank 1 time 4900.00 new
2002rmk just blew last yr. 2900mi
2004 rev 800 159 rkt kit at 1100mi ran till 3200miles when sold awesome sled
2005 rt 1000 a waste of lots of money and time. 529lbs listed was 570lbs
2008 162 *2.5, 9 drivebelts the 377 is holding up. Broke driveshaft backctry.

Have 2 yr engine warranty so not modding yet. Will do 860,880 kit when blows.

So we used to pay less than 5 k for sleds that did not blow now at over 10,000.00 we have motor issues. ENGINEERS PAY ATTENTION.

Starting to seem like maybe better to buy used for 1/3 and build from there.
Lots of used cheap this year.

Sorry To See This Thread Still Going

:face-icon-small-sadMy 07 Summit X won't blow up on me,traded it in after 5 belts and 3 clutch updates. Finally let me down when the ECU decided to crap the bed month and a half out of warranty(last January).Lost a lot of money when I traded it in but I feel confident going into the back country with my 08 D7.
Many of us have brand loyalty but skidoo has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I know Polaris made the 900 but........they learned and moved on.
Lesson # 1 never buy a first year motor and or clutch.

99 summit 600- lost crank @ 3400 great sled, miss it!

2001 summit HM 800- Piston skirt exploded and blew hold in case. Totally destroyed motor @1200 mi. POS

2002 polaris rmk 700 - Rod broke, knocked hole in case destroyed motor @ 1200 mi. Put a 04 800 motor in it and it still runs great!

02' 800 Summit
Puked up connecting rod at 850 miles - dealer replaced engine - have 2100 miles on this engine and fingers are crossed.

Also have a '96 925 Triple Mod, built by CPI - in a "S" chassis - engine has 4000 miles and will be getting a tear down and inspection next week.

Ya, I noticed that too. I had an 05 that only lasted about 400 miles(top end), while my 04 summit 800 had 4x the miles and was still going strong when I sold it.

The 04's were the heavier of the rev models but seemed to work very well in the long run.
