Valemount Conditions and Updates

we knew the guy with the black dually dmax... he was stuck hard coming in. but he was out by the time we got back down.

we were in a black dmax with 4 place open and he put on a show to get out :)

yes there is no powder at all... stay home. spring conditions :)

The snow is excellent

Sorry about the parking lots fellas, they were great all week, then the warm cam on Friday and everyone sunk in the afternoon. I had allan plowed friday night, but by the end of the melt saturday, all efforts were a waste of time. We hit them again Sunday night, hopefull to catch them before the freeze, but in this spring time weather, they are very tough to manage until most of it melts away.

We are heading into spring and will be doing the best we can in the lots and on the trails to make your visits enjoyable, but be prepared for some slush.

thx... everything was great this weekend. i think the chopper had a busy weekend. LOL

sunday when we parked so we could get out ez and the rite when we left some fellas blocked the way in. there would be some disatisfied people if they came after us and only seen trucks around the perimeter.

that dissatisfied personwould be me. completely boxed in for no reason...no worries i left some messages on ur big trailers.

lol

anyways what was up with the trail to allan on sunday..looks like the groomer went up and forgot to put the blade down

Sean.... we went down and to the left in the trees of what would have been.... I guess the 3rd last bowl back.

Ahhh the parking lot scene... guys getting stuck fooling around on their SLEDS, let alone most in their trucks.... very un-organized on Saturday.... us (the black hemi with the cat and t. nytro) tried to stay as far out of the way as we could..... the 2 place still ended up being handbalmed to let the duramax through from the little path between the upper and lower lots on the south side haha.

Chopper was busy.... our group had him busy at around 3 on Saturday in the back side of Allan.

Cost me $780 to get the Phazer flown out:( Guess it was our turn for a little bad luck. Found a motor today. That'll teach us to borrow the wife's sled, LOL

Well looks like it is still good. Don't wreck it to bad this weekend. Making the treck out there on the 1st. Time to make the yearly trip with the boy and try out my new XP.
Lookin forward to it.

$780 is still better than the $1000+ at Mcbride.

anyone see the group trying to pull the the sled up by the hillclimb? (older rev) by the time we got down to the cabin hrs later, they just got there. kudos to saving $780 and spend it on the boys for supper and beer later :)

A couple of reasons for that sorry. The drag broke a weld saturday afternoon when he tried to come up. He lifted it and under the weight of the heavy snow, it actually broke. He had to head up early saturday afternoon to get some firewood to the cabin, but waited until 6:30 to head back down. I was worried about the next days trail condition, but we did the best we could with the circumstances.

After raking my lawn yesterday, we received about an inch in town last night and the hills look like they are still receiving a dose of the white stuff. The temps have dropped a bit, so hopefully the trails will be holding up well in the spring weather.

This last weekend was a bad one, with many close calls and one friend of the snowmobile community taken. Please stay off the hills, it is not the time of the season for Highmarking. That being said, there are many safe areas to play and get stuck while still making it home at the end of the day. Chappell Creek is a great example of tonnes of snow and lower risk, as is the lower elevation terrain in Clemina.

There are lots of choices out there that will allow you to still participate in the pass time you love and make it home. Please make the smart choices.

haha i dont care i just thought it was odd i could see the groomer track but something was not right hahahaha

hey depnsolver were going to be there for friday until the first.. all this avy talk has me wondering now but kinda late to call off the trip.. do u have any riding areas that u can reccomend where it will be fairly safe yet fun... we were really excited to go to the renshaw again but ppl are saying the conditions there are bad.. were not hill climbers all running 136" tracks and one 153" but would like to have a blast and be safe about it

chappel creek, really only one face that will slide there..so stay off it. you will know which one when you see it.

allan creek, lakes and trees around teh main cabin. aswell as mainly anything up to avalanchce valley. after that things can start ot get a biit hairy.

clemina creek, lots of cut blocks around the cabin. also the trail into morning glory has many open treed areas that are very safe.

I wish that there was a map of the avalache slopes ect... i go the the mountians about twice a year and still im not quite sure where abouts these places are . is there a map or somthing ??

no you can just tell..

if its steep chances are it will slide.

sometimes there are signs that say avalanche area do not stop.

or if there is a cornice above

lots of signs...small trees indicate frequent slides

bent trees etcetc

Couldn't agree more... I was up last weekend, introducing a new sledder to the mountains, and couldn't beleive some of the stupidity that I saw. We entered an area and and I spent some time showing him how to do a search, dug a snowpit, etc, and did a quick analysis of the area pointing out two slopes that I felt were dangerous enough that I wouldn't even go near them much less climb them, one of which had all the makings of a devastating slide (cornices above, south facing on a warm day, long runout, terrain trap below, BAD consequences) and wouldn't you know it that 20 mins later a group comes along and starts taking pokes at the worst slope I could see!!! Lucky for them the snowpack held, but if that many guys are willing to take that level of risk how long is it till something bad happens?

Excellent answer, Are you looking for a job ? LOL

What Maxwell said was perfect, follow this advice, stay off of any hill and you will have a great weekend in the sun
