Valemount Conditions and Updates

you should talk to the rescue guys in mcbride(cant remember there names) they posted on snowandmud about what they thought of after these avalanches, seemed to think it was ok and there are plenty of safe spots to play there. i agree except for the fact that there are alot of bad areas there that you need to cross to get to other areas. or call glen at spindrift motors in mcbride he knows whats up aswell

ps curtis i do need a job so i have an excuse to stay there now ahahah

Curtis if Sean gets a job, then I want one too. You and Dwayne can stay in the office, and we'll do your "job".

I'd suggest Allan for the guy wondering where to ride. But if the slides are still as bad as they sound to be.... maybe don't venture through avalanche alley.

It looks to be a nice weekend weather wise. Use caution this weekend and be very leary of the steeper slopes. It’s a great time to work on your technical sledding skills, instead of hammering the biggest hill. Please review the Canadian Avalanche Associations ratings and statements for the North Columbia area before heading out for your ride and above all use good judgment regarding travel and play areas while out for your days ride.

Have fun, but most of all, Ride Safe and Ride Smart !!!

Chappell is groomed this evening and will be a great ride for tomorrow or saturday. Allan and CLemina are on the normal schedule.

we rode allen friday it was alright no new snow... we rode chappel saturday and sunday the trails in is god awful but there was about a foot of fresh but was very tracked up by the end of saturday

Any updates from the weekend. How is this weekend looking heading there on Wednesday. Riding for 3 days.

Better cross your fingers for some new snow, most areas were very tracked up.
We did manage to find a couple good spots left, but kinda messed those up for ya. :(
Did anyone happen to see the HUGE slide in Clemina near the cabin?:eek: I cannot believe how far that one ran out!!! Looks like it happened on Saturday, we rode there Sunday and it looked pretty new...

Hey Curtis
Are they still grooming heard Millage was pretty rough would like to give it a try this week. How is the trail up Allan holding up. Taking the 13 year old boy his second time riding his own unit so we will be takin it cool.

The weekend is looking good, although no fresh snow seen for a few days. I think we have officially come into the spring riding season. The trails will be all groomed up and this weekend may be the last time we hit chappell with the groomer this year due to warm weather. The trail is just too low for to long and deteriorates fast. We are maintaining it the best we can with the user numbers, I just hate getting folks angry if the trail is not up to par, so soon we have to call er quits out there. Allan and Clemina are still in excellent shape and perfect for a beginner, just remind them about momentum up the Allan trail.

The forecast shows the possiblility of snow tonight and tomorrow...... heres hoping. We currently have overcast skies, with a strong cool wind that is blowing in cloud cover, so it may happen.

If I find out any info from guests riding throughout the week, I will let everyone know.

Thanks for the update.
It has been a slow year for me. Came out of the gate fast with 2 trip before the new year. But haven't made it since. This is like the first trip of the season again. Been 3 months and I have a new ride.

It went from me raking my lawn this morning, to this :D High winds and a complete whiteout ! BRING IT ON !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is awsome great news.
Thanks for the update.

We did receive a nice snowstorm yesterday and my trailhead staff reported snowfall all day at Allan that accumulated to 3" in the parking area and it was still snowing when he left. Chappell should have received a good dose as well....

The nighttime temperatures have remained cool, which greatly improves the longevity of the trails and our grooming season, but remember to bear with use during the warming spring months, we do our best.

Valemount cant THANK the snowmobile tourists enough for coming to our town. We rely on your business to get us through the long winters and this year more than ever. Numbers have been significantly down this season due to numerous factors, but we still see the same old die hards out there, and believe me, we appreciate it. Remember, we have lots to offer in the summer season as well. After grooming shuts down the VARDA office will be open more during the week. Dont hesitate to call for advice on camping, fishing, atving, hiking and other outdoor activities we have to offer.

But enough of that, LOTS of snowmobiling left :D

Hello

With a forecast like this, who would not want to be on the mountain
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-13_metric_e.html

Chappell will be groomed up tonight and most likely run until Saturday in an effort to recoup the cost of grooming. Saturday may be a bit bumpy, but this is what we need to do to keep covering the costs of maintaining this trail. Hopefully the colder nighttime temperatures will keep the trail firm.

Allan and Clemina will be groomed tomorrow night and number depending, throughout the weekend.

It seems that we have received some fresh snow out there in the last couple of days, but I have still not heard from someone that has been up top.

I have attached a picture from the Westridge bench this morning. The picture facing south towards the riding areas, and Canoe Mountain is supposed to be in there somewhere. That HAS to be some good snow !

That being said, we still have a scary snowpack. Please use caution and tread lightly. FULLY READ the CAA conditon reports for the North Columbia area before heading out for your days ride. Park smart and look out for your group.

If you are in Chappell tomorrow and see the Mountain Host Team, please stop and say hello ! We can also answer any questions you may have about the area.

Have a safe and fun weekend !
