Turbo 1200 Dyno run

There are some direct attacks on BJ here that aren't really provoked. He's just stating facts here so why is everyone taking personal shots at him? This is the Doo section right?

I was just reviewing this discussion about time to install the FP turbo system and I can offer this--during the most recent dyno session, Justin had several iterations of lighter, hopefully higher flowing mufflers to test with the base turbo system. After determining which design had lowest sound dB/ best airflow CFM/ and best hp/ per psi boost Justin wanted to see how the same muffler impacted airflow and HP normally aspirated. I watched him remove the complete turbo system and have the sled back to stock NA in less than an hour. I was bummed because I get paid by the hour whether the dyno is spinning or wrenches are being turned.

When Justin returns this coming Monday to test headers/ stage 2 kit w/ larger turbo etc I think he'll be removing or installing the turbo system to compare his header design on stock NA engine output. He's been dyno testing with dynocams off, and Monday I'll try to talk him into leaving dynocams on so you can hear the sound of the turbo system running on boost, and maybe see the installation/ or removal process.

Header flow is very key and often difficult considering all the bends that it takes to adapt the header, muffler., turbo and adapters.. At least theres room in the 4tec perhaps better header flow would be possible if what appears to be the steering post wouldn't be in the way (MCX pic's).

Im also curious to know what "air fuel control" is being used with the kit during the dyno session.?

OldTimer - you still got the XP 163?....whos that pointless Team working?.....i marked two 163s Teams with my widdle old DJ helix and some clutching of my own...sucka!

Will the MCX build boost at idle?....not that i care, heavy sleds are not my thing, 2 smoke turbos are.....but i must admit, the XP 163 was the funnest sled ive ever been on...if this M8 Turbo thing is not my bag ill for sure be back on the XP 163, maybe i should toss the M8 turbo in the XP chassis?...that would be the ultimate sled IMO:face-icon-small-ton

BJ - OT is a bowl of jello that needs to be nailed to the tallest tree, we all know his wisdumb is just that...Dumb!, the guy looks like the hamburgerler and rides in freaky camo gear for christ sake, what a dork!

What draining 2.6oz's of oil, and 6 more screws, than removing the chain tensioner, and the clip and bolt take ??? Lets me see here i have to doo daa math. Hmmmmmmm 7 minutes and 22 seconds

OT

Drop the skid - two tensioners through the track windows and 4 bolts
Shut the fuel off, flip the sled on its side and take the case cover off, cotter pins and nuts come off, push tensioner out of the way if spring or back bolt out a couple turns to loosen, pull chain and gears out together, no need to remove tensioner entirely, slip a container under the case and drop the sled back down, saving the oil.
Undo driveshaft speedo side bearing housing bolts
Pull driveshaft and track out
Done - install is the reverse.

With air tools this is easily doable in a half hour. Some sleds are easier than others: mine - only two silencers to remove (4 springs), could drain oil through the drop and roll drop out if I wanted (probably more messy than I would like so I use a container).

Not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch over how long it takes to change a track anyway. Years ago (late 1970's) Polaris engineers designed a quick change track system on the race sleds as the tracks that they used at the time (rubber with steel cleats) would not last more than a race. In order to facilitate this, they had a quick change system where they could drop and replace a track in less than 15 mins.

Fact here is there are two types of people haggling here and one that haggles because merely it is all he has to offer:confused:...........

One has the facts/experience by doing and the other thinks he has the facts by watching someone else do it:rolleyes:.............

Place your bets...........:face-icon-small-win
