My group had something very similar happen up in Bottineau North Dakota about 7 - 8 years ago. Came down into a low spot in the trail and saw a female moose and her calf. The momma was making noises at us and started walking towards us then stopped about 50 yards from us. We waited for about 10 seconds and then guess what---took a different path and went up in the trees. We actually ended up turning around and headed back the way we came. The momma was acting pretty protective and we decided it was best to not push our luck and leave her and well enough alone(almost got stuck as I was on a short track at that time) but everybody gave them space and no problems. I think we made the right choice and the guy should have done the same. Us gun+sled owners DO NOT need any more bs videos or news stories out there in a negative light.

I'm an avid hunter archery and rifle. This video made me sick, at first I thought this guy is getting what he deserves then he pulls out the pistol and I was so pissed. He was the aggressor during the whole incident. I've had numerous encounters with moose on the trail. Never once have I felt threatened, but then again I didn't act like an azzclown and push them. I hope they find the guy and prosecute to the full extent of the law. I just wish that being stupid carried a larger penalty.

It is a very bad and sad thing for that to get on you tube as it not good for are sport one bit. As others have said it is to bad he made it through the first charge ! A few years ago I was at the cow fish restaurant in Lander WY which is very nice and has great food. While there I started talking with a mid age couple and we had a great time for over 45 minutes then it happened . They asked why I was out there being from MN and far from home. I told them I was out there snowmobiling and they both turned there backs to me . Boy did I feel like a outcast. So I counted to 5 and said what you just did was rude and why am I bad person now after we had great time for 45 minutes cause I drive a sled. I asked in a very nice way if we could talk about this and they turned and faced me again. I then asked them why people in are sport are bad. First thing he said was we chase animals. I said yes it has happed by a few idiots in are sport. I then asked them if they have a car and they said yes and a pickup also. I said people chase animals in them and on bikes or even running after animals and said do you think we should get rid of cars and trucks also ? Then he said we damage the ground were we go so I explain we are on snow and you not know were we were when snow gone. They are starting to warm up a bit. Next thing was we pollute the parks and yellow stone came up. I ask him if he had been to the park and yes he had and he said it was packed so I asked him do you think 600 sleds are worse than the 3000 other vehicles and worst of all the crap tour buses the feds have there. Well no was there answer so I said thank you. I went on to tell him that in five trips to the park I saw on snickers wrapper on the trail and I was going to stop and pick it up but someone that was not in are group beat me to it. He said he park has lots of trash in the summer when they were there. So now they asking lots of good questions and things are getting lots better. They even smiled. Then I asked them if they had ever planted a tree and they said no. I told them I have planted close to a thousand which makes me more green than you. At that point they said they were so sorry and that I have taught them a lot and they would share all the info I gave them with there friends and they shook my hand and got me a beer. Im so sorry this is so long but what this guy did with the moose is bad for us and makes me wonder if what I gained with the people I met was in vane. I know the greenies can sure make one mad but we need to become actors and take the time to help them understand we not bad. Sad to say lots of them need to be put away in a nut house as they just plain stupid !

That was what I was thinking all 3 times I watch that video. Damage was done--put it out of its pain and suffering.
I'm pretty sure these antelope are gunna charge me. Should I shoot???
