The moose threw the first punch...

the guy did the best he could have under the circumstances. it's one thing to watch a video and be an arm chair quarterback, it's another thing to face down a moose that has already attacked you once. they can easily kill a man and have kill many times before. don't be so quick to judge what to do until you've been there.

You should watch it again. The snowmobile never backed off. He always moved towards her. After the attack he moved towards her again. He is, was and always will be a dumb azz. The wife and I ran into a moose and her calf on ATVs last summer. We were in the wrong place and sat there for over 1/2 hour before the calf finally left and the mother decided not to kick our butts. If you pay attention there is usually an out. When you don't this crap happens. When the video first starts you can see the moose is mad. He should have found another way. She wanted the trail and if he had left the trail and got stuck she would not have entered the deep snow to fight. He should be ticked for poaching and carrying a concealed weapon. People like this ruin everything for us.

Could it be?

Could it be that this is actually an anti snowmobiler?
I mean if you wanted to do our sport harm, you would do everything that this guy did.........and then post a video of it.

If any of you know who this is, for fux sake be a man & turn him in.
If you know who it is & do nothing, you are just as big of a piece of poop as the pussie that pulled the trigger.

this is why people should not be allowed to carry hand guns. Go America

I understand how you can say that after watching that video, however this moron in the video is not an accurate reflection of the general population.

Your methodology would bring back prohibition because of one drunk driver, or banning McDonalds because of one fat bostard.

That thought crossed my mind also. I'd bet on stupidity though. There's a lot of stupid people out there.

I am finding it hard to believe that nobody on here has any idea who this is.
or recognizes the area.

One of the links I saw two days ago described the situation as...

A family on rentals sleds...novice riders with no off trail experience. The moose previoulsy charged his kids. Camera gets turned on...Man got in front and was making noise to try and scare off the moose. Moose charges again.

Moose charges again...man in front of his kids. Man shoots moose. They drive off regroup in the meadow and access injuries.

I wouldn't have shot the Moose..I don't carry a gun sledding.

I'm not gonna say I support the guy shooting the moose, but I sure is as hell ain't gonna condemn the guy either. Do any of you guys know the whole story, doubt it. Should he have kept pushing the moose, no. But maybe he didn't know how aggressive moose can be, maybe the guy is not as wildlife knowledgeable as all the Snowest experts. Unfortunately he found out the hard way!! And, when **** hit the fan maybe his protective instincts kicked in to protect his riding partner. Can you tell who his riding partner is, I sure can't. Could be a grandchild, could be his 50 something wife. As far as bailing off the trail through the trees, maybe his partner was a lesser rider that he knew couldn't negotiate through the trees and would be stuck the instant they got off the packed trail in in possible harms way. I can't tell you how many times I have seen my 12 year old son or my 53 year old mother stuck the second they get out of someone elses tracks, especially when trying to maneuver through trees because they don't quite have the skill level to negotiate the trees while maintaining enough speed to keep from being stuck. Does this video make snowmobilers and gun owners look absolutely terrible, yes it does. But, without knowing ALL the FACTS, why crucify the guy.
