Why use the nut at all?
Why don't you set a heli-coil into the mount and just run a bolt? Would be a lot easier to install/remove motor than to have to get a backer wrench on the backside all the time.

Yeah I have been re-thinking this. There's nothing actually wrong with the threads, I just wanted more. All my parts arrived today so I'll be starting to put it all together this evening. It's like x-mas at my house!

Made some progress tonight, but I had to stop... back to work for 4 days in the morning. I should be able to get it completely assembled and ready for the mountains next week.

The engine is in, tank and rear plastics are on. I'm pretty much ready to start on the front plastic convert.
rmk2112, I took your advice and put thread inserts in both rear engine mount ears, worked good... thanks.

I still have a little sealing to do... the little gap between the hood hinge and the nose-pan, and the lower bumper mount area. There was no issue at all with my pipe / FNI airbox, lots of room with the plastic update, just had to move the intake sensor. My clutch is still out for balancing, I should have it back within a week, then I will be officially ready for snow.

Still a few things on my list for this year... A Skinz bumper, as soon as I bend a lower control arm I'll be getting a Zbros front end, my wear bars are 1/2 worn out... stuff I can do as I go. I also plan to replace my alum intake vents with black ones to match the Mountain Fit goodies on the front end.

Very nice dude! mines still in peaces, and still sick. i just wish i had more money being in college and not working makes it difficult. lol hopefully ill get her up and running planning on making it a 136 this depends on what i can afford.

but great job man looks awsome.

Thanks for the compliment. This is the earliest I have been ready in 3 years so I'm stoked. Bring the snow!

Good question Seth, I'll have to look tomorrow and let ya know... can't remember at all! must be around 2000

2000miles??!?! on the entire sled? as if! i got almost 6000!!! its at like 5700 or something cant tell forsure since ihavnt seen my dash run in a long time. :face-icon-small-sho

Yeah I dunno... just guessing on that number. To be honest, I never look.
Called about my clutch today, not ready yet because they have been gearing up for the sled show this weekend, hoping to get it back next week.

I just checked.... 2395 miles on the sled, unknown miles on the engine... I had to put in a used engine at 1001 miles, but it got a complete rebuild late last season.
I think the guy I bought the engine from claimed 900 miles or something, it came out of a Fusion from NY

After today, all I will have left to do is install my clutch / belt and GO!
I go back to work for 4 dayshifts tomorrow... hoping my clutch will be delivered before I finish the set. The next 3 or 4 weeks waiting for snow will be painful. I'll have to call all my buddies to see if they need help getting their machines ready to pass the time lol.
First trip of the year is loosely set for Nov 26 - 28
IT'S ALMOST TIME!

right on dude, my baby is still all apart should be ready in two weeks, we dont get ride able snow till usualy late november early december till mid april. cant wait. :D

Looking good, I see a lot of the same stuff I did with mine as, looks good in blue. I don't think I posted much about it so I know its just coincidence!

I actually did strip out one of my motor mounts and used a nut the same as you, but I need to go back in and make it flush, right now it just has a spacer to make it semi-flush.

It is looking REALLY good!

The hood and side panel vents look awesome! It makes your sled look even meaner! Definitely post up some pics after you hit the snow with it. I have been reading this post since last year when I commented and overall it is just real cool to see a sled evolve in many different ways from the original switchback 9 you started with. Very neat for sure!
