hahaha i have to admit that that is very funny:D

I was in the same boat as you last year. My brother had an extra REV that I spent quite a bit of time on and my friend had an extra M7 that I also spent quite a bit of time on. I went with the REV. Much more fun to ride overall in my opinion. The low end grunt from the REV was a ton of fun, love the electronic reverse, and I didn't feel like I had a '78 cadillac hood out in front of me. If you can, it's worth riding both before you buy. They feel quite a bit different. Both are good machines...buy what fits you best.

the 800 is in the REV platform, the 1000 is in the RT platform
Its bigger/wider than the REV.

I think power isnt everything you have to be able to handle the sled to use it to its full potential. Unless if you are just a point and shoot straight up the hill. Everyone knows that a ski-doo rev blows motors but are awesome sleds. If you got money to fix it fast while all the best snow is on the mountain then go with a rev if not go with M7. Less power but wont break, and still an excellent sled its slow on bottom but smooth in tight situations not as aggressive like rev.

ive had 2 800 revs i still have the 03.5,1 set of rings, one set of pistons, lots of nos 7400 miles, good fuel, can't sh@t on the product because,75% of the problems that we've seen, run cheap fuel,my buddy runs a rev 800 154 X 8700 miles, in the mountains, changed piston at 5000 miles will change again and maybe this time we will redo the cyl[ oil delete kit ,[av gas mixed with semisynthedic oil 40;1 jetted down 2] will run with new sleds still.im not sure about the M7 being more realiable ? i won't bash, you can hear pros and cons, everybasher only picks part of the story they want to here im a doo guy no dought, i could get comfy on a cat or a polaris too but no need to change yet.

It is pretty obvious to me which one is more reliable. Just scrolling through the first 4 pages on the REV section here I see at least 10 posts related to motor issues. In the first four pages of the M series section I see zero engine failure posts.

You claim it is bad fuel causing problems? So Doo riders just happen to get bad fuel that much more often that Cat riders? The M7 I have ridden didn't need pre-mix with avgas to be reliable. Funny how that is what your Doo's need. Your head is in the snow if you think the 800 REV has the same level of reliability as the M7 Cat. The engines blow, the nuns break, the boards bend, sure as the sun will rise tomorrow morning.

The REV isnt a bad sled. Great jumpers, good handling once you get used to it, light enough, good power. Just be aware that they are substantially higher maintanence than an M7. I dont think that is what I would suggest for a newbie on a budget.

i totally agree and i ride polaris

No i'm saying when it says 91 octane it don't mean 87and a shot of cheap octane boost ,are dealer sold 96 summit 800 last year; 2 motor's 1 had been jetted down to low[ customer] still warrentied. The other one was base gasket warrenty ,than the dpm sticking was a problem, how many dimond drives do cat go threw[wow ive seen alot]not much cheaper than a engine rebuild. Bomby still owns 43% of sled sales. Oops all in capital letters sorry not trying to be bold guess im just to lazy to take it off. There all great if there was only one brand how boring would that be[try them all then you decide] i ride doo because im in a wheelchair and, crawling out sucks

I came off a Crossfire 7 with a 144, so basically a shorter M7 and just got a xrs 151...super excited to get to try the rev. I had no motor problems with the Cf for 2000 miles, ran like a top. With low end grunt could be changed with clutching on the M. I would say go with what you feel more comfortable on...I would say if you had an opp to try them that would help your decision. My main reason that I got rid of the CF7 was because of the reverse. I know that sounds lame, but it was a huge reason for getting rid of it. If you want reliability, I would for sure say go with the M7...if you want a good jumper with lots of low end grunt, get the Rev. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

So Doo riders aren't as smart as Cat riders and they put the wrong fuel in? I am just trying to clarify what you are saying here.

Diamond drives are much, much cheaper to replace than engines, that was a pretty crazy assertion. They also rarely fail if you service them, another inexpensive item.

You mistake me for someone that is blindly brand loyal. I've never owned anything but Polaris. I am wise enough to do some research though to see what works and what doesn't.

Woww this was fun when i thought you atleast rode a cat,but polaris come on ,polaris and research are not even used in the same sentence ever sence 2005 wow you want to talk about engine trouble, almost had to kick them of the mountain;leaving to many on the trail usaully on the way in. Lol doo ,cat or cat,doo are the only choses for me rate now , i had 2 97 xlts 1 98 xc600 long tracked 1 99 rmk 700 1 01 xc 800 long tracked 1 01 le 800 long tracked ,back when they had some research. Im sure the one you choose will be the right one, enjoy you can't go wrong[cat or doo]

My last Poo was a 2002 800 RMK. I have been riding borrowed Edge RMK's, IQ RAW's, and M7's since. I will be buying an M7 this year.

Funny your views...If Poo hasn't been any good since '05 how is it the '07 700 Dragon was beating up the 800 XRS in the hillclimbs? Admittedly, Poo cant seem to build an 800, or 900 any better than Doo, but the 700's have typically run with 800's and been dead reliable.

I should probably stop posting, your responses are too painful to read. Most third graders have better spelling and syntax.

All in fun ya! I laugh at my spelling and syntax to,i was talking about the 8's. The 6's and 7's poo's no prob ,it was a tuff call for me 2 years ago polaris or doo when i bought my [six]but went doo, and also bought a 8 last year , because of sevice alone.don't be so mean. This computer chit chats new for me. Lol

well in general isn't 700 more reliable than any 800s. i have the 700 just for that reason thank god that polaris made the 700 again. That is why i bought new one who knows when they wont make one.

Well my father in law has 01 700 summit and it has over 6000 miles on it now and has never been rebuilt. He just asked me yesterday if I could call the dealership and get a top end put in it before he pushed his luck.

Back to the thead, I would go either way. I like the M chassis better but prefer Ski-Doo 800 power, so I went with Doo. In the group I ride with we have a 04 800 rev with 4500 miles no motor problems, 3 05 800 revs with over 2000 miles on each with no motor problems, I own a 07 800 rev with over 2000 miles on no motor problems and an 09 with 1400 miles on and no motor problems!! I am not saying they are bullet proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but with good care they can last a long time!! (well hopefully last a long time) good luck on your choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a moer serious note, my buddy had an 04 Rev 800 159(Dyno Port single pipe). He kicked the $hit out of my 02 Edge 800. And then when I got my new 07 M8(SW single pipe). He kicked the $hit out of me some more. NUFF SED

True and funny.

Actually I haven't exactly made my mind up yet....Sounds like the Rev overall is more fun, but the M7 leans and tips better and is better at carving. Plus it's more reliable....I'm leaning towards an M7, but if I can find a REV with a new motor (or recently rebuilt) for a good price I'll jump at it. I guess I'll just keep an eye out for a good deal on either!

Thanks
