Sold my truck... what are my legal rights?

I am confused...

I thought he put a stop payment on the check?????????? At what point did he change his mind and offer to make it a money order? Did you guys figure out what was wrong with the truck? did you turn him into sheriff then changed his tune?

Never said he did stop payment, more of a question on could he and what are my rights if he did? I was basically preparing myself for the worst situation that night and going through all the possible outcomes.

Today, he said that the "O-Rings on the turbo went out" so he ordered a complete turbo. The O-rings are a $70 fix from a dealer, less than $20 if you do it yourself and takes all of an hour or so, so I don't know what kind of mechanic he has but it sounds to me like it's more than just a set of O-rings. He asked if I would be willing to cough up for the turbo, "we'll just wait and see what the bill comes to".

I'd be saying HELL NO I wont cough up for a new turbo! If anything I'd cough up $70 for o-rings and a repair job and call it good. That way you feel like you did something and he feels like he got something out of you. Your wallet will be $70 lighter but more than likely that will be the end of the story.

I have 2 sets of those O-Rings here, I blew a set out 3 years ago and after the tech at the dealership told me how easy they are to change and how much they actually cost I decided to buy a set and have on hand. Then I got another set with the ported housing I put on, offered them to him but he said his new turbo should be here today.

I have no intention on paying for a new turbo, paying for part of it or anything other than what I offered in the new O-rings. If he wants to send me the bill and insist I cough up some or all of the repair....., hey, he signed the bill of sale the way it read (although he didn't even read it) and from what I gather that should be the deal maker.

Had I not had a gut feeling that the kid run the piss out of it, I would have had a completely different outlook and would have probably offered to fix it, that's just the way I am and I'm not one to knowingly screw someone over.

May the ol' Ford forgive me........ :face-icon-small-sad:(
